Sad to see HDS closed after 70 years

I was able to grab a set of dies for my 375 for 70 percent off before they sold out of them but its bitter sweet. HDS has been a wonderful resource for a long time and will be missed.

I have to agree. I was able to pick up a Woodleigh reloading manual before they closed. From what I was told on the phone, Mr. Huntington was over 80 years old and I don't think he had anyone take over from him.

Agreed. That's a classic business shutting down. Sad to see it.

What is sad to see is that the younger generation for the most part do not want to continue on the tradition of their fathers, or grandfathers businesses. And others don't want to have to pay for the privilege of using a established name to continue the business.

I have seen it happen quite often.

I used Huntington's for years and they almost always came through for me. I will miss this resource.

Who will be the Woodleigh USA importer now?

Midway USA was the only other stocking dealer in the US that I know of.

Im pretty sure Woodleigh announced they had a new importer to replace Huntington's, but I dont think they have said who it is yet.

Been a very helpful place for as many years as I have been alive. Sorry to see them go.

Unfortunately, I can not recall ever reading anything about them. In their defense I shoot more long range comps than hunt. That to say, their marketing is probably lacking. That did not help, missing big segments of a shooting group does not help you grow your business. If they had, it may have made it more enticing for someone to pickup the reins.

I promise you that it will be worth a few minutes to research the history of Fred Huntington and HDS.

That's well and good, the issue is their doors are now closing. I have never read anything about them until now. That means I'm out of touch or they lacked current marketing.

Hate to see any long standing business close, however over the years I was never able to order anything from them because of the archaic website and limited business hours/phone orders only.

Always pleasant and helpful over the years. I took, will miss the resource and the people who helped the reloaders of the more obscure calibers.

Had never heard of them either-sorry not to be able to add them to my list of resources

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
