Ruger, Winchester or Remington who makes a better

Winchester Model 70 or Ruger #1

Then again, a 7x57 in any decent bolt action is a pleasure to own.
Been fiddling with loads for a friends 7x57 M03, and the numbers are impressive.

I got lucky and found an unfired New Haven built Mod 70 featherweight 7x57 a few months ago, beautiful rifle. They are out there, just got to look and be patient.
Yes, there are some out there, but they are few and far between. I would not plan on buying one in a short time frame.

My first and only 7x57 Mauser 98. Even with my old eyes and open sights it will hold 2” groups at a 100 yards with 175 grain round nose bullets.

SAKO, but of the three you listed, Winchester.

My only 7x57 is a Remington Model 700 "Mountain Rifle."

I've taken a couple of deer with it, but I wish it was a bit more accurate.

About 2 MOA is the best I've been able to do.

+1 Winchester Model 70 CRF, New Haven made.
458 B&M, 300 WSM & 243 Win, all are stainless M70’s New Havens.
I’ve tried them all plus customs, always come back to the basics and win every time!

None of them offer a rifle in 7x57mm Mauser anymore, but they all once did. My personal favorite would have to be the Remington Model 30 Express.

My own 7x57mm Mauser is an English E.J Churchill Gun Makers Model Deluxe and it’s been serving me dutifully ever since 1989.

@Hunter-Habib
The Remington model 30s is a M17 Enfield action.
Remington had a heap of M17s parts leftover after the war so they lightened them and turned them into to 30 and 30s. My 35 Whelen AI is styled and lightened to the same specs as the 30s but I left the dog leg bolt. Great rifles.

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
