I found this after years of storage on mine. Never noticed it post shooting but was concerned none the less until a gunsmith tore it apart. It's on the above listing ..

Thats from set back usually, from the tang.

@Woodcarver & another source have the same idea, if the aesthetics bothered me or worsens. Foremost, there was no damage to compromise integrity ..

It appears to be about to flake out a minor chip. Not a deal breaker. If it did chip out AND you found it, would be an easy acraglass fix IMO. I might be tempted to tape off area, and apply acraglass liquid thinned 40% with acetone which will soak in like water, but leave behind acraglass. Then do a careful spot refinish? But, it's not my gun. Might consider relieving the area behind the tang a TINY bit.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
