In almost 40 years of living and hunting in Africa I never used shooting sticks. Shot off-hand or used natural rests like stems, anthills, knees etc. Only hunted in forests and bushveld, so the distance was always quite short, around 50 to 75 metres, seldom 100 metres +. Off course hunting in the Kalahari and other wide open places would have been a different story, for that shooting sticks are a must.
