I have heard that once you get past 0.584 caliber a flat nose does LESS damage than a round nose, I was just wanting to get a 2nd opinion from people with EXPERIENCE! Thank you ☺️

We're talking solids, I presume?

I have only shot flat nose projectiles up to .577 into animals, some subsonic & the flat nose (large Meplat) makes a amazing difference.

I have a large 12bore Double rifle near 15lbs that i have shot a few animals with but used RB, they all died nicely but only up to Deer size, I also have a Paradox 12ga, unfortunately I haven,t worked up a load with the flat nose bullets or shot Big game with them, I think it will have more smack, not necessarily more penetration as a hardened RB ?

A Flat nosed bullet with the appropriate size Meplat will out penetrate a round nose bullet regardless it's diameter

What I have heard is that once you get up to 0.584 you get unnecessary drag that will not benefit any even in wound channel. And that a round nose in (what I have) a 0.725 caliber will out penatrate similar bullets with a flat nose thank you for replying!

@michael458 has extensive data on bullet shape vs performance. Performance meaning straight line penetration, expansion and deflection.

I don't have any experience with this but just want to say whacking anything with a big rounds solid ball if super cool. I have stopped myself from indulging in a 12 ga paradox gun or two, but still on my list of things I'd like to try from a handloading perspective.

Yeah I have aria ballistics hard cast 722 grain slugs at 1600 fps! That’s a lot of power!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
