In the Stone Age, people used sharp bones, carved stones, scales (chips) and pieces of rock as weapons and tools.
Such items remained in use throughout human civilization, along with new materials used over time.
As archaeological artifacts such objects are classified as lithic tips, without specifying whether they were to be projected by an arch or by other launching means.
Such artifacts can be found all over the world. Those who have survived are generally made of stone, mostly of silix, obsidian or chaillé, but in many excavations arrowheads are found of bone, wood and metal.
