ALONE-survival series
Some interesting observations...[there are more!]
1] The winners of the solo seasons 1,2,3,& 5 were ALL 'tubby' guys !
2] 3 of the above 4 individual winners took a multi-tool knife as one of their 10 chosen survival items.[mostly the Wave]
3] NONE of any of the 8 participants [S 1-5] that took a bow and arrow as one of their 10 survival items could manage to kill any mammal bigger than a squirrel in a survival situation with it so far !
[Some birds and one snake were killed with the bow though]

4] All 4 of the individual winners did took extra food rations as one of their 10 survival items.
5] These 4 winners all won largely due to their positive mindset and 'stubbornness' rather than due to their survival and other outdoor skills alone..

This tells us something ,and there are some lessons to be learned in here somewhere....

Really, Mister I can't poop won season 5!!!

I agree these winners didn't survive from skills they survived due to the fact they all knew that they were going, so they eat like cray to fatten up and live off the body fat not skills. The winner of this season as I think back on it I never saw him hunt and I don't remember seeing him fish for food, only thing I can remember is that he trapped a couple of mice. Mice and body fat heck of a diet though he did carve a spoon and a cup to carry home for presents for the kids.

Was that the one that was trying to live off tree bark claiming that the North American Natives had done it for 300 years. He was an idiot! When I saw him eating inter bark from a tree I knew he was going home.

Here are the ten items Sam this seasons winner selected to bring on his survival journey to Mongolia: note no fishing line, no Bow and Arrows but he did take double food Rations.

1. Saw
2. Axe
3. Pot
4. Ferro rod
5. Multitool
6. Food Ration
7. Food Ration
8. Sleeping bag
9. Paracord
10. Trapping wire

Seems to me it is currently more of the HUNGER games than actually the SURVIVAL game.....

Carry at least TWO good cutting tools EDC on your person if at all possible when going out there......

In a longer term static survival situation, a bigger blade is more useful in the beginning [camp clearing, shelter building, protection, hide scraping, etc]
and a smaller multi-tool is better for later- on [for carving useful camp items, food preparation, weapons/tools creating, trap components , mending/fixing things , skinning etc] when forced indoors due to rain, cold, night time etc.
--it's also a good tool to help creatively fighting boredom !

One is none and two is one ?

“Everything you have on your person is for survival. Everything you have packed is for camping”.
I think this is the best survival quote I have heard in along time.

Why more people don't carry a multi-tool is a mystery to me. I recently watched a video about hiking the Appalachian Trail and it recommend leaving your multi-tool at home because of the weight, I stopped watching at that point and hoped that hiker never has to get off of the trail.

Survival
Shelter,water,fire,food ,protection etc---all up high !
...only on day ONE-- and it's still in progress....
Interesting!

Now this is very interesting but I wonder what the true time frame to build the hut would be? It showed him making about 12 roof tiles a day and it takes several hundred to cover even that small roof. I don't mind the small door it helps to keep the big bears out.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
