I purchased this rifle at auction in March last year and have finally got it into Australia and taken possession . It is a 300 H&H magnum . It was made by the late Ronald Wharton in his shop located at 100 St Martin’s Lane London in 1989. Action is an original Mauser with 26 inch barrel. There is a folding front site protector and H&H style quick detachable scope mounts. I have 180 grain bullets and brass and will work up some rounds . Looking forward to taking it out for some pigs .

Ripper looking rifle (y)

Great rifle maker, I have a Ron Wharton Takedown in 7x57. He made super rifles and his H&H mounts are a work of art.

Wow!!!! That is a stunning rifle!
Congratulations.
As a life long 300 H&H user…. Welcome to an astonishing cartridge.
Spoil that lady with 200gr bullets. (Wink)

I hope she brings you great joy
His widow is still very involved in the gun trade

I enjoy fiddling with different loads and even tried the 240gr Woodleigh a few years ago.
They certainly make wildebeest and eland pay attention!

What a stunning rifle, congratulations, it must have taken some red tape to get it here!!!
You will love the calibre, I have a Ruger No1 in 300H&H, just a joy to shoot.
Cheers,

Yes there were a few hiccups . It came with a bundle of other firearms ( not all mine ) and it took longer than expected to get all the weapons together . Then got knocked back by the police in Queensland when I tried to get it registered . Got it sorted out in the end . And yes it really is a very nice rifle . Wharton made quite a few 300 H&H rifles but I think this is the nicest he made in that calibre . Looking forward to hunting with it .

Hello there,
Could you tell me if your model 70 has two recoil lugs? I have heard some of the super express rifles had one, while the safari express has two.
Thank you.
Brant.
