Roadblocks and bribes: Zimbabwe is Africa’s shakedown state

That also happened to us in Serbia (former Yugoslovia)
Its not so heavy in Zimbabwe (like in West Afrika).
I met a hunter,he told me 50 roadblocks at 400 Kilometer.

A neat story to that:

last year ,we had a 7h ride by car from the hunting concession to Harare Airport.
In the back our cook Kefas, with sunglasses and hat, very serious looking (like a minister we joked).
Me beneth my (black)hunter, he was the driver.
The PH changed his cap,on this cap in big letters :
ZANU PF
Mugabes party.
" Zimbabwe African National Union.Patriotic Front.
He always wear that, when he is in a car .
We passed lot of roadblockers and we noticed always that the police was very astonished looking to us.
A driver as a Government party member,a white man on his side and a "minister" in the back.
No one dared to bother us :)

Many years ago, 1985 to be exact, I was on a college trip. We were on a autobus getting ready to leave Hungry into Yugoslavia. The border guards kept us for about 5 hours checking "our papers." It was as hot as any summer day in South Texas, we kept buying Cokes from the shopkeeper on the border, soon she refused to sell us "Cokes" and was selling us some Hungarian cr*p that looked like a "Coke" but tasted like sh*t. When we were ready to leave Yugoslavia we stocked up on some beer, on arrival at the Yugoslavia/Italy border and they started with the check "our papers" again. We handed over a case of beer and in 5 minutes our papers were all in order and we were out of there. Sometimes, a "gratuity" goes a long way.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
