Return travel from SA they Amsterdam

On May 20 I depart from the States via KLM to Johannesburg. (Both directions are thru Amsterdam.) I’ve recently heard report of the Dutch government prohibiting all citizens except Dutch from boarding in KLM flights from SA for transit through Amsterdam.

I would appreciate reports from the field of recent travelers from SA through Amsterdam.

Just returned from SA. We where scheduled to return on KLM but the flight was cancelled the night before, so we had to switch to Qatar.

Ban on flights from South Africa and countries in Central and South America​

There is a ban on passenger flights from South Africa and countries in Central and South America. New, highly infectious variants of coronavirus are present in these countries. The purpose of the flight ban is to prevent the further spread of these variants in the Netherlands. The ban is due to remain in place until 15 April 2021.

Countries subject to the flight ban​

Flights from the following countries have been banned:

• South Africa
• Argentina
• Bolivia
• Brazil
• Chile
• Colombia
• Dominican Republic
• Ecuador
• French Guiana
• Guyana
• Panama
• Paraguay
• Peru
• Suriname
• Uruguay
• Venezuela

Yes I am using an agent. Thanks for the post Dudders. I have seen that myself. Prior/other posts articulated the prohibition was for persons from those countries.

The odd thing is that KLM had a flight from J’burg to Amsterdam statuses as “Flight On Time” two days ago. Have tried to get direct info from Delta/KLM on this.

Of course reaching a real person is rare. Yesterday Delta on-line support rep suggested that I call the Embassy.
