I have no idea if this is the right place to ask this but I figured I'd give it a shot .
My husband ended up bringing home a mounted fox yesterday that he found on the side of the road in the woods believe it or not . It's in a bit of rough shape , it seems the fur had something sticky in it and has now dried on one side, and one of its ears have been ripped . I would like to know how to clean the fur back to a sensible state . The ear I can probably fix .. Ive never done anything like this before , and I know I won't get it in tip top shape , nor am I going to invest any money into it , we just want to put it in our den for a conversation piece . Any help would be appreciated , can attach pictures if needed !!
Thanks in advance !

@gizmo would probably be able to offer 2 cents

Just wash it in shampoo as you would your own hair . Don't soak fur more needed. Use an air compressor to dry it by blowing fur against the grain.

Try not to get the leather any wetter than necessary, clean the hair not the hide.

+1 but like he said do not saturate the skin. Clean the hair. You can run mane and tail through the hair after it's clean to give it a nice sheen too.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome to AH Lisa. If the fox doesn't turn out the way you want it to show, tell your husband it will make an excellent coyote, or fox, decoy. Helps a lot when varmint calling.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
