Reloading for Dangerous Game

Very interesting thread. Really enjoyed it.
My input on handling primers. I use latex gloves solves the oil migration issue.
As for factory loads and failures. if anyone here has used a .17hmr they will have seen the split necks that come straight from factory.
Got so bad that I sold mine, after I saw what this did in a CZ to a Gamekeeper up the road. Blew the bolt cracked the stock and scorched his jacket.
As for leaving hand loads for the PH. That’s a judgement call that each of us would need to make. For me they would have to be FL sized (which they should be imo for DG) and of shot over a chronograph for consistency.
But also it depends on the PH and how the hunt goes. If I see that they are diligent, professional with and eye for detail. Then yes I’d leave them any spare rounds. But it’s there call on who they give to use.

I saw @Philip Glass posted a comment recommending against reloading for dangerous game. He is far more experienced than me so it seems like a good question to ask.

In general I'm just looking for people thoughts, experiences, reasoning or justification to choose reloads or factory loads for dangerous game and any stories they have that might have.
On my previous plains game hunt, I had failure of premium factory ammo. Norma PH line, 375 H&H 300 grains, swift a frame.
The rifle just went click. (my hunting report is on the forum with that detail)
So, based on that, I would say - factory ammo is not guarantee..

Secondly, now at my place we are facing shortages of DG ammo, no more Norma available, or anything else.
I am forced to buy bullets, and start reloading.
I couldn't find swift a frame anywhere (EU),. nor Hurnady DGX or DGS..
So, I managed to get rhino bullets, will need to try this.

So, second point is, non availability of DG ammo, makes the need for reloading.
I dont have luxury to choose.

Of course, availability of ammo in USA could be better.

from reading only, the monometals and the like from South Africa have a good reputation. I don't think you will go wrong with Rhino bullets.

I would like to get some of the different bullets from SA just to try.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
