Reiser Taxidermy is making me very nervous

I feel your frustration, this is no way to run a business....just saying.

You just need to time your hunts different.

One in May, June, or July should get your shipment back a lot faster.

Fingers crossed it leaves Namibia in January! I will go past his office beginning of Jan and make sure it leaves for the States.
Merry Christmas

Current holiday schedules do not provide an explanation for the last ten weeks......

Merry Christmas.
I agree. What happened from Sept that the shipment was not made before the holiday season. Has your outfitter or shipper addressed that with Reiser. Would be interested in hearing their reply as I am also planning to return to Namibia in 2020

It has been 8 months since the conclusion of my Safari with Phillip Hennings and Khomas Highland Safaris. I ordered a dip and pack only and received notice of completion at the very end of September. Sven Baard of Reiser Taxidermy notified me my items were crated and ready to be shipped, as soon as I make payment they will be dispatched to the Hosea Kutako airport.

I paid the bill by wire 10 weeks ago and not only have I not received the items, but now I and Mike L. from Coppersmith have been unable to reach Sven for an update on the items. I know Africa is different, but this is killing me.
Reiser caused me all kinds of hell a few years ago. They don’t communicate or do much of anything. Terrible company that gives all of the Safari business a black eye. You must keep in mind that Africa shuts down the whole month of December.
Good luck!
Philip

I had not heard from Sven as of Monday so I sent another message inquiring about my shipment and whether it had shipped. This morning I received a message from Sven stating my shipment is set to depart within the next 2 weeks.

Dip/pack is some kinda sore spot with a lot of hunters including myself. Anytime you hunt in late August or later you can pretty much bet you wont see your stuff until late January early Feb. Sounds like Phillip may need to rethink his choice of companies.

To be clear and fair, Philip gave me the option of anyone I wanted and actually was working with Trophaedienste' for most of his clients. Due to more than one horrible report I read I said I wanted Reiser due to them having better ratings, reviews. I have no reason to believe Philip is responsible in any way at this point. I'm not aware of any service provider Philip could align with in Namibia that can deliver on par with my experience hunting with his company. By the time of departure I was certain Phillip, Errens, and Cole were the best "hunting buddies" I'd ever had. If he could find a way to extend that excellence to the crate at my door I'm certain his business would climb even higher.

At this point I have no reason to believe the quality of work is as poor as my research led me to believe Trophaedienste' was. It is my sincere hope Reiser does great work, and takes this as an opportunity to take over the Namibian taxidermy and export market. We live in a day where word travels faster and farther than ever and if they recognize the opportunity to deliver with better service than all of Africa, and maintain better communication, they will own the marketplace.

I've had great results from Reisser in the past (bearing in mind Africa time).
I have shipment from a hunt over a year ago, just dip and pack, and I haven't gotten it yet. I have also gotten worried. I am told that there was problems getting shipping space on SAA, then that the permits expired and had to be re-done. Needless to say, I will continued to be concerned until I've seen my trophies.
Not sure what has changed, but something is definitely different. I'd be cautious bringing new trophies there until we all have current, multiply verified confirmation that things are back to normal.

Owner of Reiser Taxidermy who is

Wilko Pasheka
who owns Ngwena Hunting Safaris yesterday said he would only comment on the matter today, while Masangu said they terminated their contract with the hunting operator and were pursuing payment.

“Last year, he did not pay us and had an outstanding amount of about N$900 000. So we gave him time from January to September to pay. Then he only paid N$370 000, yet the contract states that the first instalment was supposed to be paid in February and the second one in July,” Masangu said.

This post seems to be one of several with regards to getting taxidermy done in Africa. While the prices look good I still follow the advice of my guide in Namibia "Don't get any taxidermy here"

You’ll still need to do a dip and pack.

Which is not taxidermy. Not sure why you felt you needed to point that out...........

I felt the need to point this out because there are people on this forum who do not have experience hunting in Africa who may not know that irrespective of having taxidermy done in Africa, the services of a taxidermist in Africa will be required. Those people will be better served knowing this fact than they will be if they falsely believe the solution to the problem of losing one's trophies at the African taxidermist is to simply not use an African taxidermist.

The point of this thread is that a particular taxidermist has not shipped trophies on time. This thread is not about taxidermy per se; it is about (potentially) losing one's trophies at the taxidermist.

Well I’m going back to Namibia in May and plan on using Kings taxidermy as per my PH. On my first trip to Namibia all dip/pack was done by a taxidermist/ph and the facility was on the farm which made it quite easy. Hopefully Kings taxidermy does the right thing.

I hunted Namibia in April and Reiser Taxidermy is who my PH recommended. I also used Rosella at SSI for importing. Reiser did try to bypass Rosella and it did cause a problem, but Rosella took care of it. The skins were sent to the tannery in Houston and on Jan 16th I stopped in at the taxidermy shop to see if they had them yet. They'd just received them that morning. I had them check the skins because I'd heard that some did have problems with Reiser. My taxidermist said they were ok, a couple of things could have been done better in skinning, but nothing they couldn't take care of.

Now comes the wait for the mounting - but I can at least go and visit now.

I had Sven just ship me 15 heads and a bunch of backskins and leopard. It's slow the airports backed up and hes a new shipper . He did a good job for me and would use again it did take a while though .

UPDATE:
My trophies have arrived at Coppersmith.
At this point I am considering the recent delay as being due to the mentioned trouble finding space on SAA and permitting challenges and not as an indication of a problem with Reiser

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
