Reimbursement from South African Airways

I got refunded for my tickets including seat upgrades for flights that was in 2020.
Well there is some hope for you @ChondroPython im sure your outfitter is hoping that you will do the safari as tags on big 5 safaris make a big difference to an operators season.
Outside of South Africa mostly, with the exception of a couple areas.

Hope it all works out.

my very best, as always
Jaco

I received a full refund from Qatar for a scheduled July 2020 flight in ten days after request. Seems that US carriers were giving a credit, not refunds. Qatar was great in there service.

Has anyone been provided a credit or refund from South African airways in the past few months since Dec 2021?

They are telling my agent (in Dec 2021) that it can take 6-9 months as they are "so busy". Has anyone dealt with this recently?

Thanks.

I just got my refund last month. It was from two years ago when I booked it. I really didn’t think I would ever see it. So it was a big surprise.

I found that when last I planned to go and the WuFlu kiboshed it, my agent in TX advised to NOT cancel the tickets, but rather let them cancel the flights in order to get a full refund, which I did get from Emirates.
It took some time but it happened.
No doubt the situation with SAA is a bit different with their financial problems.

You’re right Ses, I really didn’t think I would ever see a refund. It was really my fault for even booking with SAA. But I didn’t realize how bad they were financially even before covid hit

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
