Recommended Ammo for .375 H&H?

Looking for advice. I will be going on my first African plains game hunt in June of 2025. I plan on using a 375 H&H for the bigger / thicker skinned animals (not cape buffalo). The platform will be a Ruger #1 w/ 3x9 Leopold.

What does the experienced hunters recommend? Thank you in advance.

I’ve used PPU .375 300 grn SP & I wasn’t impressed but at least I ended up with 200 cases.

PPU applied bitumen sealant between the bullet & the case neck (as with military RG for instance) & it left a residue in the throat area of the barrel & also needed solvent to clean it from the case.

For practice or even boar it may be ok but if I was going to Africa I’d be definitely be buying something else.

Anyone try the buffalo bore loading with Barnes TSX bullets?

I have not, but for the same price I’d choose Pendleton’s TSX loading. I’ve been really happy with their Swift A Frame loading.

Copy that. Just got my M70 so want to try several and see what it likes the best. So far acquired the federal swift A frame loading and Barnes factory TSX load. Haven’t heard of Pendleton so I’ll look them up.

Since starting this tread, I have now completed my first African safari. My Ruger #1, 375 H & H is topped with a Leopold CDS firedot VX-3HD 3.5-10x40 and I used 250 gr TTX from Hendershot. I was very pleased. Next target is east coast black bear.

Any particular place on the east coast you are looking to hunt bear? I just put in for the Maryland black bear lottery yesterday.

Good luck with getting your tag. I am going to try Nova Scotia in Sept and North Carolina in December. I have never been.

I understand the northeastern portion of NC has some of the biggest black bears in the world! Good luck with your black bear hunts!

I just got back from Zimbabwe hunting with a long time buddy who got first crack at buffalo while I took opportunities at plains game until he got his buffalo. I had both 270 grain Accubonds and 300 grain Swift A Frame loads. The PH recommended I use the 300 grain A Frame for everything. The first morning I got a full frontal shot on a kudu at 125 yards. The A frame worked perfectly and was recovered.

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
