I've recently gotten back into shooting my bow since recently moving, and I think it's about time for an upgrade. Right now, I have a Bear Outbreak (2011) I comfortably shoot 60lbs at 30" but can move up weight if I need to, but I would prefer to have a bow with a good range on it. I was curious if anyone has any thoughts on what to look into first. I know the new Mathew Lifts seem really nice but is it 2x the bow the new Bears are?

I shot a Fred Bear Truth 2 for 15ish years. I just upgraded to a Hoyt AX2. I shot the Hoyt, Matthew’s, PSE, and Elite. IMO the Hoyt was the best combination of speed and comfort. Not sure what your budget is, but go shoot all the new stuff and see what works for you.

Only you can decide what is good for you look at all bow brands and specs u like narrow it down to ones u like and go try em out.

The new Prime “Form” bow is very forgiving which translates to efficiency and accuracy. And less than Hoyt and Mathews

Great thing about a bow shop compared to a gun shop is that at the bow shop you can shoot every darn bow in the store before you make your decision.
(There’s a comparison of a church and a brothel in there but I’ll save it for another day!)
And since it’s only February, you have lots of time to make your final decision. Shoot them all then make your decision-
I am leaning to a Hoyt alpha but I am hard on equiptment and shoot left handed, also a long draw, so consider others opinions very cautiously

As others have said - go shoot them! I’ve had great luck with Hoyt. If you really struggle to choose, which many do, I say you find the nearest bow shop you really really like, find the best tech there, become his friend, and see what he likes working on best. A good relationship with Those guys will help you way more than a slightly different bow!!!

I have good luck with used bows. My bow now is a Mathews Z7 magnum. I don’t think I have ever owned a brand new bow.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
