@Rare Breed acted arrogantly, provided misleading evidence, and then disengaged. He dishonored himself. Without question for any that would read the evidence in an unbiased way.

The question at hand: should @Rare Breed be expelled from the AH forum? Should the AH forum allow humans who are dishonorable to maintain membership?

I enjoy the great camaraderie of this forum. But I want no truck with it if it just becomes an old boys club.

I’m quite fond of both @Rare Breed and @franzfmdavis

While what transpired between both of them is quite unfortunate, it must be remembered that Rare Breed has had several honest transactions with fellow members over the past few years since he has been a member here. Although he did do something morally questionable this ONE TIME, I don’t believe that the man is a fraud. He’s gone out on a limb to help fellow members more than a few times in the past. And surely that must account for something. I personally wouldn’t want to see him go because of this misunderstanding. Although franzfmdavis understandably has every right to feel unhappy about what happened.

I’ve enjoyed the posts of both gentlemen. I’ve had some good PM’s with @Rare Breed. What happened between these two gentlemen should not have happened, but to banish NB from the forum is in my view, extreme. The initial transaction went perfectly. However, I too, wouldn’t be pleased with the events of the return. Most of it sounds like it went smoothly until the shipping reimbursement. Hopefully the two can come to an agreement.

This forum is not the place to throw stones. Too many members live in glass houses. I'm not naming names, almost everyone has a flaw or two. including me. Let two grown men settle their differences themselves. Too bad it was drug out for all to see.

The buyer / agent (BIL) tried that repeatedly and demonstrated that it was for naught
Cash is king… if the other one has it the recourse available was to go public.
If ye put yourself in the shoes of the guy that got screwed you might realize the option is to go on offense when defense fails

The issue at hand is what if what if one of them is a scoundrel. Then it has to go public and the group must decide whether to expel the bad actor.
If ye keep thinking it should just be settled privately then go read the thread where the buyer got ripped off.
Otherwise these sorts of posts just reward the bad actor and have no element of justice

Their process is not ideal as it has to go overseas but they turned it around pretty quick. I recommend emailing them daily until they respond. Good luck!

Update this woman responded to the second message I sent her, and apparently the scope is still under warranty.

I like you @Hunter-Habib, and hell can’t wait to read your autobiography. But a man is only as good as his word. The Pope commits a felony and he’s still a felon. @Rare Breed misrepresents a high dollar sale in public view, then lies in print about the recompense, then publicly does a coverup that was plain for all to see…he’s a bum even if he was a good guy prior…and should be expelled. I have been on the "other african hunting website" for 20 years. This is a minor squabble compared to the noise over there.
I suggest, let them work this out without everyone's opinion.

So here is mine - when/if I sell a $20,000 rifle, I would fly to see it first hand or pay for the customer to fly to see it. Not a big deal. A $20k rifle is a bigger deal than a $20k car and you would not buy one without driving it first.
