Yes.Is that an ultra 7?
Looks good!
I go back and forth with whether or not to go with aftermarket or Blaser. I’ll say there is no replacement for the finish Blaser puts on a barrel.I am glad to hear J Sip is getting back on track. Even though Blaser is making new calibers we need more options.
Tip (Texas Sporting Arms) is a gunsmithing treasure! Great guy as well!I’m happy to update this thread with some good news. I ordered a 7mm 8 twist Proof barrel blank, 22”, chambered in 280AI, with a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle from Evolved Ballistics for my R8. Evolved supplies the barrel blank and sends it to Tip Burns at Texas Sporting Arms, who installs an Akila Bear8 barrel extension and chambers the barrel. Total cost was $1550 and the whole process took about 3 weeks. The only downside to the Proof barrel is that it has a 22mm profile. Since I have a couple of R8 stock receivers, I sent my Pro S stock to Tip and he fit the new barrel to the stock. Paul from Evolved and Tip have been speaking with Proof about making some barrels with a lighter profile for Blasers. Fit and finish of the barrel are excellent. I’m getting 5 shot groups around 0.7” at 100 with my hunting load, so I’m pretty happy. I’m taking this rifle after red stag in Canada later this year.

Like a factory barrel:Curious, do you screw the barrels in out or do you change out like regular Blaser barrel. I think this is a great thing either way.
