Question on laundry service

I always have a merino or two in the pack. They wash and iron my stuff ever day. I have never had them ruined, maybe some high temp spots, but not enough to care. I say hunt what you are comfortable in and if they don't look the same at the end of your trip it wasn't a big price to pay

I'm still dumfounded at the idea of wearing wool in Africa. I love wool at cooler temperatures, but can't wear it above 55-60 degrees F, unless it's raining.

Creepy crawlers growing in the clothes? Man....as if Tetse flies, ticks, and skeeters weren't bad enough:ROFLMAO:

I plan to withhold telling my wife about hostile insects hatching in clothes until after we return from Africa. Mosquitos are nothing, but the reported ticks have her spooked already.

One think that I found to keep quite a few of the bugs at bay was some Permethrin. I sprayed my clothing down with it before we went over along with another hunter and neither of us had a single tick on us while over there. The third hunter in our group was covered with ticks after his impala hunt near the coast.

I even sat down in a ant bed without realizing it and had ants all over my boots but none on my pants or socks that had the Permethrin sprayed on them.

It is some good stuff.

Don't tell her about the snakes.....

I buy a couple bottles of permethrin spray on Amazon and give pants, socks, shirts, jacket and hat all a good spray and never seem to be bothered by bugs. The stuff is safe and effective. Permenthrin is used to dip dogs for fleas, sprayed on livestock and is the active ingredient in the shampoo for head lice treatment.

You can also but permethrin in a concentrate and dilute. For roughly the same price as the bottle above you can make gallons. I do this and soak my clothes instead of spraying. I also have a big spray bottle that I then pour the excess into and save for spraying later.

If I ever get to go to Africa, I'm going to buy a big jug of that stuff!

Is the 140 degree ironing required in winter too?

RTH, thank you for your post. I travel all over and have found that lightweight merino wool is more comfortable than cotton in warm weather. This will be my first hunting trip to Africa.

Thank you to everyone for the thoughtful replies. Very much appreciated.

Permethrin is great stuff. I grew up in TX and still visit and hunt there. There are lots of ticks, chiggers, etc. and Permethrin does a nice job of keeping these pests at bay.

Thanks again!

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
