Question for 500 Jeffery owners....

Sounds like fun. However my shooting buddy twisted my arm and now owns my old 500 jeff. However I do have a 505 Gibbs:A Stirring:
Would that work at some point in the future?

Well as lvw said above...basically if you let me know which of the species you are interested in I can put a package together for you...and depending on how this goes i was thinking of doing similar for other ...how shall we say old exotic African type calibres...and double rifle only hunts....

I like this old African type caliber double rifle only thing.. :Cigar:

Lets bring our pith helmets...group hunt for...ehh...likeminded individuals.. :ROFLMAO: ?

Yup ..as said want to do some different ones and be different for those classic semi obscure calibres....505 definitely qualifies

Unfortunately can't do group hunts...max hunters at once is 2, and only if in same party.

Someone asked me to put a full hunt offer on for this...but I don't think that would work....as I said I think the person who is interested should tell me what animals on our list they would be interested in trying to take with their 500 Jeffery, then I can put a package together...as I feel this is more of an individuals choice of what they want, as opposed to me saying this is what the package is

I rather like this idea mate. How much ammo are you going to liberate from us all :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I could bring an original prewar Jeffery 500. I got it out of Southern Africa. Would be ideal to bring it back there and hunt with it.
Well for those of us who will not be attending ….. would the brethren of the .500J care to share pics of their rifles?

Especially the prewar example you speak of vette447….. I’d really like to see a picture of a unicorn!

I can't attend due to work and sons in college. I will have to content myself with shooting elk and jack rabbits with my 500 Jeffery ... Sounds like great fun though!

Now that I own a Jeffrey and if the UPS gods allow in a few days I will have a decent supply of brass, I would be interested in something of this sort.

@Gert Odendaal What action do you plan on using?
Dave , I have two options, both involves extensive machine work.Due to the fact that I do not have a ZZK602 action for the .500 Jeffery.

The Mauser 98 Model action is one option and the P17 30-06 action. Johan Greyling designed a jig he uses in a industrial lathe to turn down all unwanted features on the P17 action, and shaping the bottom metal so you can not see the difference between the Mauser bottom metal and the P17 bottom metal, so that ugly hanging magazine bottom metal of the P17 is not visible anymore.

.I will upload photos of the .500 Jeffery he build recently for a client.to show the ingenious work he did ...

The Mauser 98 action option I will follow another great gunsmith of South America. He did a splendid job on a Mauser action for a .500 Jeffery I need to copy..he send me some info and photos in this regards.

Gert,
Look forward to seeing your build and the photo's from the recent build. I really like the 500J, I would expect that getting it into a 98 will be a challenge but has been done so can be replicated.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
