Living in Qatar, I would only be concerned if the flight has a lay over, and would check if passing the immigration is allowed on transit flights; all the resident here (expatriate) are required to have some quarantine period which varies depending from where you come from. Other than this, no major political issues, after all the US still has the largest military base here, and plans on expanding.
