Professional Hunter Bush School

I actually like the idea a lot. Definitely some kind of hunt as part of this would have to be part of the deal. I know I wouldn't be interested in any kind of certification or anything, just being a better hunter.

Pherose,
You are an attorney, correct?
James;
Assuming he is, that was pretty simple. And what is wrong with finding tax deductions? Ya know if that worked, the flight could be deducted as well!

Has some merit in my way of thinking... but keep it simple, just hang up a shingle and call it Shooting, Hunting Institute Tech For Africahunting Community ED. Get some of the party animals on here attending and we can all be S.H.I.T.F.A.C.ED...... Ha

Wonderful idea, the course looks good and I recommend it to everyone.

I know when I did my PH course we were 1o students. My only concern is the harvesting of your own trophy in the 5 days if there are more than a handful of people doing the course as safety comes into play with the number of people out in the filed hunting. I don't think that it will be doable.

Unless the "shooting of a trophy" is done after the course ends and people stay on for additional days (but where would the caping fit in them?).

Anyway, if you make it happen, fantastic!! I am all for it :)

I am a lawyer, but not a tax lawyer:sleep:.

To answer the original question, I like the idea for sure. This type of thing would be great for a first timer like myself who wants to be as involved as possible. The challenge will be to connect it to a hunt otherwise that is a looong way to go for just a five day course.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I was actually only partly kidding. Maybe this particular course is not the one but the way I see it universities offer a lot crazier things and a lot of tuitions are deductible. For example, the study of pornography is offered at several universities (a part of the course curriculum, not just in the dorms) so why not something that educates us on the role of hunting in the environment and social fabric? Check this out from the University of Chicago website:

CHDV 20405. Pornography and Language. 100 Units.
The course explores the place and role of language in pornographic films. Why does language occur in filmed pornography at all? What kind of language occurs? What role does it play? How is it gendered? How does it frame the narrative or drive it forward? How does language subvert or undermine the visual representation of sex? What does any of this tell us about gender, sexuality and erotics in non-pornographic contexts? Course readings focus on theories of pornographic representation, theories of language, gender and erotics, and methods of transcribing and analyzing dialogue. The course requires students to watch a wide range of pornography, including different varieties of straight, gay and trans porn, so anyone enrolling in the course must be interested in pornography as a social and cultural phenomenon and must also have experience watching porn and thinking about it.

o_O who knew? And I just thought it was about the music.

I actually had signed up for adult agriculture courses right out of high school and they kept expanding the curriculum so I think I was in the class for over 20 years. Qualified me not only for some realatively small tax deductions, but also student pricing on a lot of things including computers and software. I still regularly attend seminars and conferences as I'm sure many of you do.

So I would someone like James who is in the business would surely qualify to have tax deductible tuition and travel expence.... Not as sure about hunting as a hobby or general education for the rest of us. That might be more of a CPA or tax attorney question.

James,

Good job flying outside the envelope.

I like the general idea. Getting a group together might take an AH group hunt like you mentioned. Might be fun. (y)

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
