Probably another foolhardy idea…

There is already a website that does that but do not know if I can mention them. They are called hunter meets hunter.

I assume with brickburn commenting on the thread that AH is aware of its content
As said there already is a site that does this for the general population... just google swap hunts and it will send you to a couple of sites. However, I understand that this is just between AH members and I think it is a great idea to get to know and meet outside of a convention setting. Had a nice inholding in Idaho, but sold the property last year...getting to old to do the mountains. Now, have a couple of hunderd acres is S. Missouri, could hunt deer and turkeys. Haven't seen any hogs yet.

There's still plenty of public land in the north of Sweden where I live. Just the city where I live has 49000 hectares of land that you can get access to for something like 150 euros per year iirc. Unfortunately stuff like that seems to be very rare on the continent.
You need to be from Sweden? Otherwise I am going to build a cabin there ;)

@mdwest
Would be interesting if'n it weren't a243. I don't like wounding critters.Now a 358win and we would be talking.
Bob

I sold off my 358 win…

But my wife has a nice 35 whelen built on a VZ24 action she could loan you… :)

I think the only loads we have for it at the moment are 225gr accubonds.. but that would be like dynamite on your typical 150lb East Texas hog… will certainly knock them dead.

I prefer night hunting them with a suppressed AR10 in 308 with a thermal mounted… :)

For that deal you need to be a permanent resident in Luleå but I think members of the club that organizes it are allowed to bring guests. I moved here quite recently and you need to attend an in person meeting to join but they only have that meeting twice per year and the next one is in may. I'll make sure to attend that one though. The nature here really doesn't support a lot of animals per hectare compared to pretty much anywhere else though.

@mdwest
Dang, I'll almost be driving pats Cass county when I'm over there with my wife in October this year.
We will be in El Campo for a few days then heading over to baton rouge.
We will be catching up with a few AHers for a meal while we are down that way. @ Mark Biggerstaff has recommended a nice Mexican meal.
Now I'm retired and don't have to work as hard if'n someone asks me what Manual Labor is my answer is ain't he some sort of Mexican peasant.
Bob
@Bob Nelson 35Whelen , I'm confident that a few fellow AH'ers and myself in the Dallas area would love the chance to buy you a meal and/or a drink when you're passing through the area, if the opportunity presents itself. However, I currently own three 243's, so i completely understand if you don't want to be seen in public with me. ;-)

PS - if my cousin has his new BBQ restaurant open in El Campo by then, I'll be sure to give you and Mark a referral.

@cash_tx
Mate I would be more than happy to be seen in public with you as long as you leave the 243s at home.
If'n y'all have a yarn with @Mark Biggerstaff I'm sure he is open to suggestions on where to eat and you would be more than welcome to join us.

We were thinking of staying a night in the Dallas area then heading to Wharton.
If you want to get my phone number off Mark I'm sure we can work something out.
Bob

I’d be into this type of idea. I think as long as folks are smart about it and people treat it like just two friends trading hunting experiences (I do this already anyway) there shouldn’t be any issues with guiding in a legal sense. Some of us probably have some cool local stuff. I don’t have much to offer beyond coues deer and coyote and fox hunting but I’m sure other folks have cooler stuff than me.
Coues deer are pretty cool;)

I propose the idea for discussion among our forum members that we work towards some sort of a reciprocal host/hunting system. Where one member host another and guides them on a hunt and in return the recipient does the same at a later time.
I mentioned once basically the same idea, and one of the moderators erased my post explaining on pm that I am not allowed to "sell the hunt".... hmmmm

Now where are your manners. The .243 would be enough for hogs. Show us how it’s done.

I’m sure he would have a .30-06,

That night hunt sounds like fun.

Bob, this guy has 7mm in his avatar. He’s onto something. 7mm cartridges are great.

@cash_tx don’t meet for breakfast. He turned up with a bottle of Bundy and Iced Tea the first time I met him. Who drinks Iced Tea?

I don’t have an answer for you perhaps it’s as simple as how it is worded. I offered up the idea instead of offering up a hunt to trade. I would guess any actual negotiation would be done in pms so as to not go against site rules.

I think we need to differentiate between selling a hunt on your private land, and inviting a friend to join you for a hunt on your place. Once money enters into the picture, the legal aspect changes completely.

If all local laws are followed and non resident licenses are purchased, I can't see much of an issue. The obvious exception is Alaska or other locations that can be very dangerous for folks unfamiliar with weather, wildlife, etc.

A quick review of your State's Game and Fish laws, or a call to your local Wildlife Officer can clear things up.
