I am trouble finding solids for my 375 in the current ammo situation. In fact the only ones readily available appear to be Privi 300 grain FMJs.

I just can't find anything else. Does anyone have experience with this bullet?

Do you need loaded ammunition or just bullets?

Loaded ammo preferably. Handloaded for years but never for a Dangerous game rifle and have never crimped anything.

Only solids that I found on ammoseek were Privi. I looked this morning

Available direct from Federal.

Hendershots would be worth a call, too.
The Federal ammo direct from them looks good. I may have found Barnes Banded Solids too. Checking on them
Damn, they had them a couple days ago. How much were the Privi's? Good practice ammo.
Dont remember price but pretty inexpensive

Don't even think about using this PRVI Partizan 300Gr FMJ load against elephant. This garbage almost got me killed in Zimbabwe. It's infact the only time in my last 48 years of African Safaris, that my white hunter had to step in to save my life.

I'll even use 50 year old Remington round nosed steel jacketed 300Gr FMJ solids, but not that PRVI Partizan load.

I am going to be hunting buffalo, do you know if the problem was low velocity or bullet break up?

Bullet break up and unreliability. The bolt of a pre '64 Winchester Model 70 will not close on some of the rounds from the same box. The jacket isn't steel. It's gilding metal.

By the way, if you plan on hunting buffalo … then, you shouldn’t even be using solids to begin with. Only premium grade expanding bullets like Federal Trophy Bonded Bear Claw or Swift A Frame.

Because the PH says to bring softs and solids.

Do you think a TSX would get through horn and bone in the unlikely event of a charge?

The point between to hit brain or cervical vertebrae which will be protected by heavy bone and horn in a charge.

300 Gr Barnes TSX (out of a .375 Holland & Holland Magnum) would be number 4 of my top 8 choice of bullets for Cape buffalo.

What are your top choices for buffalo?
1) Federal Trophy Bonded Bear Claw
2) Rhino Solid Shank
3) Swift A Frame
4) Barnes TSX
5) Northfork Cup Point Solid
6) Labor Fur Ballistik TMR
7) RWS TUG
8) Hornady DGS Bonded

Forget about FMJ for buffalo just use premium grade expanders

It does not have to go through horn during a charge.
Chances of getting charged are very slim....
Just use premium expanders....done.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
