Pre-war Rigby 275 for sale, factory lettered

Bump to the top. Lots of interest in the past but not sold yet. $6k for a pre-war Rigby....

I’m shocked a REAL vintage Rigby is still available at this price. I get that it was modified and thus lowers collector value. But the patina is worth more to me than making a couple hundred bucks in profit.

Rigby should sell one that looks exactly like this one. Short, svelte, handy. Worn blueing and stock purposely aged to look like it came from the glory days.

Interesting and thanks for posting. When I asked Rigby for data on the serial, that's what came back in the letter. When I asked JJ what he thought about the gun, it was in good condition but had in his words, non-factory modifications. I just know it's the cheapest pre-war Rigby I have seen for sale and is a cool little gun.
But were the frt & rear sights re-regulated and zeroed (either with the peep sight or the folding express sight) after the barrel was chopped from 25” to 22”? POI would definitely be affected regardless of the .275 load.

Sold pending funds. Very cool gun going to a great buyer.

Yea more than a few guys lost some sleep on this one. Glad to see it moving to someone who appreciates a pre-war Rigby.

Hi Green Chile,

Nice rifle to use! Seems to be made with a M98 Standard length action. Much better to me!
Good luck!

Yes and no.

Rigbymauser pre ww1 was made on a intermediate length action for their .275cal.

I must say congratulations to the new owner of this fine rifle.

As a former Rigby collector I will here share some points in "rigby collecting".

A prewar rifle is made before ww1.
A rifle made in 1931 is an interwar rifle.

From here thing becomes a slight deeper in regards to boltactioned rifles. Here the collector distinquish between a St. James Street gun or a Sackwille street adress gun.

I'm not a collector at all, but the patina, the history, the name, the caliber, all in a rifle I could actually consider hunting with as intended. I was deeply, deeply tempted! But in my tax bracket it's better I put that money to work on a trip. Congrats to the buyer.

Hi rigbymauser,

I know "almost" all Mauser Rigby 275 rifles were made with the Intermediate actions. Certainly all pre WW I.
But looking in detail at this interwar one, seems to be made with a standard M98 action.
I would like what have to say Green Chile about that.

Best!
