Offered is a Pre-64 Model 70 Winchester Custom 7mm Rem Mag Lightweight

The action has been lightened to include reducing the diameter hollowing out the bolt handle/ball, skeletonizing magazine, and 4 holes drilled in recoil lug. The action remains strong even with removal of steel by lightening. Please see the photos.

This rifle handles like a magic wand! Obviously it is not a heavy target rifle. Rather, it is a powerful carry all day rifle.

Dang Mark, that is nice! If it were a 270 Win I’d be PM’ing you now! Someone is gonna get a fantastic rifle!

This is a wonderful rifle but it is excess to my needs.
My semi-retired gunsmith inspected this rifle and informed me he would charge $2500 plus the wood (another $1000) to make and checker a stock like this.

Who did the work on the rifle? Who built it?

A lot of old Winchester guys are gonna LOVE the red tint to that wood. Beautiful rifle.

That is a stunning pre 64. The nicest one I’ve seen.

It would look great leaning against a zebra or Eland.

Sorry, but the craftsman who built the beauty is unknown to me. There are no identification marks on her either.

Whoever it was, they sure had skill didn't they?

Gorgeous! I believe they were termed Featherweights (even back then.) Is it possible Winchester did the work themselves? The checkering is consistent with a Featherweight. Very nice. I'll tell my 7RM fan club friends! IF I didn't already have a comparable 757, I'd take it myself...I'd be shocked if it's not sold yet!

Let me bring this beauty to the top in case anyone missed it!

I hope all do not mind but I got a new "mirrorless" Nikon and thought I'd practice on this fine Winchester.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
