you don't really seem to know much about what is going on in Texas. Our government doesn't do a lot, and what it does do, it frequently does very poorly (as all governments do).

when private industry fails in some capacity, lefties are always "see, i told you so"

when government fails, which is daily, lefties seem never to publicly notice, until the next budget cycle starts, then they insist they only need more money and they'll for sure get it right this time.

An assistant to Nancy Pelosi told her she had a fantastic dream last night. There was a humongous parade in Washington celebrating Pelosi.

Millions lined the parade children were throwing confetti into the air; there were balloons everywhere. It was the biggest celebration Washington had ever seen.

Before all this green hype I would regularly grumbled about the control a few oil and gas companies have on the world. Despite the fact that the market dictates pricing, there is still a virtual monopoly on what I must own to live.

If the government had presented their plans as a way to give choice to consumers I wonder if there would be a different discussion? If they subsidized or gave incentives to an industry that would compete with O&G for our business. I strongly suspect the regulatory approach would have been less hostile, mining would emerge as a stable investment and you would have more choice in how you move yourself around this planet.

Just musing about how change could actually be good in the long run if O&G wasn't the dominant industry for transportation and energy etc.

In the U.S. the solar and the auto industries making hybrid and electric vehicles are de facto subsidized.

I got to thinking how different the discussion in Canada would have been if our government had reduced our dependency of foreign oil as a first step. And, then encourage the industry by working with all of Canada and First Nations to build supply chains for raw materials. Instead they created a civil war, East against West, and did not inspire anyone. So stupid, but I suppose it got voters out for them.

I agree that a “blend” of renewable energy and current sources of energy would be beneficial to all at this point in time. I think that is happening currently. Eventually, renewable energy will be the norm. But, the switch to renewables isn’t an “on/off switch “ type proposition as our current geniuses seem to believe it is. They’re attempting to destroy our oil and gas industry and the good jobs that come with it overnight, with no realistic plan to replace that lost energy on a massive scale and no plan on how to replace the huge number of GOOD paying jobs associated with the current industry.

The battery pack in a Tesla weighs 1200 pounds. I guess the greenies think it doesn't take any energy to haul around that much weight every time that vehicle moves. Who in their right mind would load up their vehicle with a half a ton of lead just to go to the grocery store. On top of that, the Tesla Model S weighs over two tons, the same weight as a full size pickup. So much for saving the planet with electric cars.
