What anyone is reporting is pure speculation. The Russian press is touting it as a success. Of course they are controlled by the Kremlin, so they will be devoid of any honest reporting. News agencies like the Guardian and BBC, both of which are routinely critical of this administration (like MSNBC and CNN), seem to be happy to run with that narrative in what is otherwise a news vacuum.

The first real hints we will get about where this may or may not be going will be through leaks from the EU and NATO after the administration briefs them.

Well, actually, my sources told me that there was a second meeting. And after it was concluded Rubio and Lavrov went out for drinks to wind down @ The Alaska Bush Club.

lol! We don’t have the faintest idea what really happened regardless of any written reported words. Including any report from a press secretary from any country.

In fact, my speculating has just as good a chance of being accurate measured against any agency reporting on the issue. 50/50.
Oh boy! The Alaska Bush Company.
That is the last place you want to go before flying into the bush. At least that’s what I’ve heard

In regards to the Trump/Putin summit. I recall what my attorney told me years ago….. A successful negotiation is where everyone feels they paid (or gave up) too much. To complicate matters, now you have China, NATO, Europe, and no telling who else behind the scenes. This deal ain’t gonna happen in one meeting, I’d be surprised if it happens this year.

To quote Trump:
There were many, many points that we agreed on, most of them, I would say," Trump told the press following the meeting. "A couple of big ones that we haven't quite gotten there, but we've made some headway. …I think we’re pretty close to a deal. Now look, Ukraine has to agree to it."

Basically, Ukraine has to capitulate and there will be peace. Nothing has changed.

Another thing that is linked to these negotiations is Russian oil in China. Trump said he would know in 2-3 weeks if he would slap China with big tariffs over it.
Possibly something that could be related to more sanctions on Russia should a peace deal not be reached.

Will the Trump Putin meeting lead to an ending of the war. No one really knows. There are a number of stakeholders not involved in the meeting with a say in the matter. Bessent asked the G7 if they were willing to place 200% tariffs on all countries buying Russian oil and according to Bessent they all looked at their shoes. Evidently the G7 and EU feels it is too painful to go after China and India who is reselling Russian oil to the EU. That limits the options.

Trump’s hands were effectively tied in his first term in relations with Russia with the Russiagate investigation ongoing. The Clinton campaign, US intelligence community and the US Justice Department crippled any opportunity for the two countries to work together. The release’s by Gabbard, Grassley, Bondi, Patel, and Ratcliff over the past three weeks leading up to this meeting seem intentional to set the stage for a better relationship between America and Russia.

Zelensky’s statement following his conversation with Trump seemed reasonable and the fact he is coming to DC on Monday seems to reaffirm the point.

At a minimum there is dialogue between the world leaders with the largest nuclear arsenals. That alone seems worthy of the Alaska meeting. We will see what if anything comes next.

Probably the best news coming out of this meeting is that a peace plan is now directly on the table. The EU and NATO have been pushing a ceasefire and security plan with EU and NATO troops on the ground backed by the U.S. military for months. Talk about a way to really get everyone bogged down in a quagmire that could last for decades. That seems off the table now.

Putin got exactly what he wants. He can carry on with his war, and there are to be no devastating sanctions, which means that there is no incentive for him to come to any kind of reasonable solution on this war.

Why should he, they are winning on the battleground.

Besides repeating verbatim from the liberal media ....
Tell us exactly what Putin got?

Didn’t America and the EU place sanctions on Russia already. How is that working out.

Didn’t the G7 and EU nix the American idea of 200% tariff on countries buying Russian oil. Why is the EU buying Russian oil through intermediaries now if they want to make it painful on Russia to stop the war. What is America expected to do if the EU won’t participate.

If not a negotiated peace agreement, what alternative solution do you propose.

Not been really following the news but saw this and at least to me this means there was some progress made.

You do know that there were actually reporters there and there is film footage of all these guys movement available don’t you?

Information nihilism is just childish.

You cant blame this on Europe.. Your President is anything but consistent in these matters.. 2 weeks ago he threatens Putin with even more heavy sanctions, even at the 3rd part nations that trade russian oil..

Next week he rolls out the red carpet and Russia is back at the stage after being a paria since 2022.

I doubt more sanctions were discussed judging by Putin´s grinning..

Reagan made the USSR implode economically in an arms race...Russias economy is going down the drain so why oh why cant Trump push them harder..?

A ceasefire must be effective before peace agreement talks but nothing is simple, Putin will probably not allow western forces to guard a ceasefire.

Haha!

You act like this war is Trumps fault and his responsibility to end it
Tell me, what has Europe done to broker a peace deal? What has Norway done?
You crybabies cower in fear of Russia, and do nothing but bitch & complain about Trumps every move.
Will Trump broker a peace deal? Maybe not.
Will Trump do everything right. Maybe not.
At least Trump has the balls to give it a go, and try to work something out. which is more then I can say for the spineless European leadership, and all of you that spend too much time watching the communist news network.

Nice bit of showmanship which no other president would have done. Whether a positive or negative influence on the negotiations - who knows. But very clever showmanship.

I think Trump, Hegseth and the US Air Force missed a golden opportunity here. After the first wave of planes flew by (B-2 escorted by F-22s), I think they should have had a second wave. Same number of F-22s, flying the same formation, without the B-2. At the right moment, Trump turns to Putin and says, "and there goes our new stealth bomber, what do you think about that Vlad?" :ROFLMAO:

I’m not blaming Europe anymore than I’m blaming America. Just showing that Trump offered up 200% tariffs on countries buying Russian oil and Europe chose not to go that route. Do you expect America to go it alone while Europe helps support Russia by buying Russian oil.

In your initial post today you called for tougher sanctions. Sanctions are a western idea. In the western mind sanctions should work. South Africa is an example where sanctions probably played a key roll but they were a western run country. Sanctions tend not to work well with non western countries. Look at Cuba who have been sanctioned for 65 years. The wests response is always sanctions even when they don’t work, or work well. If something doesn’t work why keep doing over and over again. Especially when your partners, Europe in this case don’t want to go along with the 200% tariffs.

You complain that Trump didn’t push Russia harder like Reagan. What is Europe doing. Why is the impetus for America to do something. America just did something by initiating peace talks. Who knows if it will work but America is trying something but since it isn’t more sanctions all you want to do is complain that America isn’t following your plan.

Hi Green Chile, I just recently bought a 470 NE barrel for my Thompson Center TCR 83-87 single shot. Im just looking for some 470 NE to shoot at the range just to try it out. I dont need anything special but I just wanted to see what you have left. I dont necessarily even need a full box.
Thanks
