A record number of Americans applied for British citizenship between January and March, according to the first set of data covering the start of Donald Trump’s second presidential term. Some 1,931 Americans put in an application, the most since records began in 2004 and a jump of 12% on the previous quarter, figures from the UK Home Office showed Thursday. Applications had already soared during the October-December period, which coincided with Trump’s re-election.
Others mentioned the context and the proportion.

The important thing is that unless they also renounce their US citizenship, it means nothing. US taxes worldwide income of their citizens and has a steep exit tax.

And some of them should've bloody stayed....ie certain "celebrity " specimens...example ellen DeGeneres....and I should imagine some are in the sciences as the UK has been trying to recruit those types
..
You guys can keep her… and Rosie too…

Tariffs live updates: Trump threatens Apple with 25% tariff if iPhones not made in US

President Trump on Monday took aim at another giant corporation in his ongoing trade war, threatening Apple (AAPL) with increased duties if the company does not make iPhones in the US.

"I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S."

Nothing burger and more of his toothless bluster. Legally he can’t target a single company. He can however target India and China. Whether that will be 25% or more remains to be seen.

Apple and others should take a page from Putin’s book and just stroke his ego and string him along until the next shiny thing gets his attention.

Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives said that shifting production to the U.S. would take five to 10 years and drive-up costs to about $3,500.

"We believe the concept of Apple producing iPhones in the US is a fairy tale that is not feasible," Ives wrote in a note on Friday.

While I tend to agree with you, Apple lost 3% of its market cap today. And 3% of nearly 3 trillion dollars is not a nothing burger.

Successful applications by US citizens to settle permanently in the United Kingdom, rather than just move there initially, also hit a record high last year, the latest period for which official data is available. Settlement comes with the right to live, work and study in Britain indefinitely and can be used to apply for citizenship. More than 5,500 Americans were granted settled status in 2024, a fifth more than in 2023.
CNN

Is anyone surprised about this...?
I am reminded of a quote from Lord of the flies, “You don’t hunt or build or help - you are a lot of cry babies and sissies”. Munnik let’s hear something good and positive in your hunting experiences, remember no one like a cry baby.

My comment was about legal actions Trump could take in regard to targeted tariffs. Of course, he can temporarily damage the stock. Most likely comments were timed in the middle of the week for that purpose. I am not going to panic and sell my Apple stock. Have been holding on to it since 1990.

Looks like he hasn't learned anything yet...putin still playing him....and Russians consider him basically on their side.....would say unbelievable...but unfortunately after all this time it's now standard thinking/behaviour on his part....pretty sad state of affairs....

Can't find the article, but apart from the time to build the factories in the usa, I think they worked out that the costs of making iPhones in usa would make them around usd 3500 to sell...

Presume these are usa communists on the roll?

I’m no communist, but I avoid Wal-Mart if at all possible.

They intentionally pay their employees as little as possible and keep their hours low so that they can collect welfare, food stamps and housing allowances, knowing those employees will spend their food stamps at wal-mart.

So the USA tax payers are subsidizing the low cost labor of Wal-Mart.

They came up with this idea when Hillary Clinton sat on the board of directors; while her husband was the governor of Arkansas where Wal-Mart was founded.

She didn’t resign from that board until she boarded the plane for DC when bill was elected president…. Because that would be a conflict of interest.

Many of us have heard firsthand stories while visiting the great country of South Africa. But unfortunately, Trump has given the detractors just enough ammo to argue with his position.

It just boggles the mind that with all the resources Trump has, he pulls up wrong Internet information to show the world. Such as some of the pictures he showed were from the Congo, and he kept repeating that the crosses were actual graves. Instead of a monument to demonstrate the number killed.

His larger point is correct that rural people are being persecuted by crime and gangs, but just giving a tiny bit of false info gives the detractors ammunition.

listening to CNN today they are saying this whole argument is from white supremacist and racist inside ZA.

I love what Trump stands for in the larger sense and he is attacking a lot of things that need to be corrected. I just wish he would let other people speak to those issues. He steps all over his own message.

For instance, his commencement speech at West Point today was 50-50 when he stayed on the written speech it was OK.

then he veered off into politics and probably wondered why the officers and cadets could not clap when he got into politics.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY
