I'm not Catholic, so the actions of the Vatican mean nothing to me. They have been going much further left for awhile.
I get the feeling that choosing an American born as Pope has an underlying agenda.

This has been floating on the web since the death of the Pope. I was waiting for for one of our Trump partisans to post this sacrilegious bit of garbage for our discussion. I actually suspected Brent would not disappoint. Absolutely how to win friends and influence people isn't it. And yes, this was forwarded on his Truth Social account - though he now denies he personally did it (after the backlash of course.) I realize the loyalists forgive him anything, but this is the action of a twelve-year-old. This sort of behavior is at best embarrassing - and at worst shameful. I assume some anti-Catholic evangelist will set us straight shortly.

Have a box of old letters and miscellaneous papers and photographs in an attic or something? That's the only way I figured out what my grandpa's bronze star was for. Even my mom didn't know. Otherwise I wonder if you would be able to find out through old military records.

Just trying to communicate to him in his chosen language... and he is remarkably consistent in his choice of expression.

To be fair I sent it to a Catholic friend of mine last Sunday and he thought it was funny.

Trump posting it was probably beneath his position (nothing new there) but in a vacuum it’s not that big a deal. The Catholics I know who were outraged by the picture already hated Trump. The Catholics who like, or at least don’t mind him didn’t seem to care.

Personally, as an Anglican, I’m holding out hope for Trump to become next Archbishop of Canterbury.

(To be clear that’s a joke. The Church of England needs a massive shakeup but Trump has no business being anyone’s pastor)

Unfortunately, a huge number of US army personnel records from WWII were destroyed in a fire in the 70s.

Pretty much every record of my maternal grandfather’s time in the army air corps was lost except for his discharge papers. Pretty sad.

I can take or leave Trump as a normal guy. As a president I just hope his policies are solid and effective. As for that picture, I honestly can't believe people get worked up about it. Most were already looking for a reason as @Rocked and Loaded pointed out. I think I've barely shrugged my shoulders at it. At the most it's a ridiculous sort of amusing. Maybe because it's too well done? Maybe I'm just very hard to offend. I also don't think it's wise to start getting bent out of shape about a bit of religious humor if you know what I mean.
