Politics

You’ve got a claimed history in business and I’ve got no reason to doubt you sincerely so I’ll pose the same question to you I asked @mdwest. Take away his leverage his inherited money and his family name. Now he’s just Donnie from up the street would you do business with him knowing he’s proven liar , prone to public bombastic statements, prone to hostile business practices and prone to going bankrupt sticking other people in the process?

Sense when do you need to be a country men to point out character flaws in a public figure? You yourself have offered criticism on any number of topics from far beyond the boarders of your country.

As to your comments on my character I’ll gladly go toe to toe with you in a public opinion poll with the loser leaving the forum permanently, Care to dance that card?
Okay fellers. Enough already.

Congratulations German troll. Will be using the ignore feature on you and guessing I’m in good company.

Man, as anyone can tell from some of my previous posts, I am completely anti war unless completely necessary. However the Irish blood that flows through this American's veins would love to see the British and Germans both get another old fashioned American ass kicking!

For a couple of countries that were sent to the kids table long ago, they sure have become a mouthy lot and are in good need of a spanking!

You and I are tracking. Yes, the birthday thing would be more than just a little problematic, and I am glad to see it was apparently nipped in the bud. For obvious reasons that makes the Army's formation date of June 14th problematic for a major parade. A joint service event tied to July 4th might make more sense. :E Shrug:

Though I can't imagine the road damage if tracks rolled across asphalt in the middle of a DC summer.

Orange Man Summer

Like yourself, I am Norwegian on my dad's side, Danish on my mothers. My great grandfather's immigrated from the ancestral motherlands.
My grandmother had a genealogy book put together on our family lineage. She passed on years ago, and I never got to see that book.
Not sure where it is now?
I hope you can track it down.

My paternal grandfather was full German and he married a full Dane so my last name is German. My mother’s side all Norwegian. I’ve been accused of being a stubborn German, especially by some Colorado wildlife agency management folks that I freely offer my wildlife management views to regularly. I take it as a compliment. I’m all about quality mature animals while many of them want to kill, kill, kill. But I’m not so sure my stubbornness is from the German side!? Perhaps we have something in common as to Norwegian and Danish traits!? Never, never, ever give up!

I have stubbornness to spare. I think that comes from the Danish side of the family, as my Dad's Norwegian side didn't seem to be as much.

I have a lot of Irish, good bit of Scottish with a little English mixed in.

Needless to say, I have a lot of internal conflict!

Lol, and a Southerner to boot!

If the USA is the best country in the world, how come you are not happier? After traveling through your country, I have come to the conclusion that if you have a good economic status and a job, you are quite well off, if you do not have it, there are significantly worse opportunities to achieve any kind of well-being. I myself was a little shocked after my first month in the US by how a large part of your population lives both in cities and rural areas. Unfortunately, it is starting to be the same here in Europe, there are many immigrants who would like to have something that reminds them of how they lived at home.

I second!

It's amazing how quickly civil political discourse can become so uncivil.

I think that all of us here will agree that we believe and cherish many of the same things... Freedom, prosperity, security, family, a higher power and a great appreciation for nature!

We may have a different take but I believe the end goals are ultimately the same.

I blame the media for a lot of this, no matter the news channel you watch, the format is the same. A host in the middle with people on both sides screaming talking points at each other with no reasonable solutions for the problems at hand. Meanwhile the man behind the curtain does what he wants while we are at each other's throats.

I'm pretty damned happy most of the time.

I do wish the price of a good steak would come down some, not that I can't afford it, I just feel guilty knowing how much it cost a few years ago.

Oh well, thank God for venison backstrap and tenderloin!

Renminbi is dropping on the open. Looks like it is the lowest it has been in 15 years. Will be interesting to see if China tries to support it.

That's true about damage to the streets, especially from Tanks.
The same discussion was when they wanted to make parade on a victory day in our capital.
On the end parade was held, with careful choice of route, to plan for road reconstruction.

or they did until they ran out of tanks to drive in it)
Red leg,
respectfully, some authorities would disagree. But I understand the standpoint. :sneaky:

quote/unqoute
He said Russia would likely make 1,500 tanks every year, while the US makes 135 tanks a year.

The front line, is almost static, with slow momentum westward.
Western countries in last three years have given everything possible in military aid, and all what they could. (Croatia gave all the armor available, for example)

Even if the armor losses are 1:1 to each side (Ukrainan summer offensive in 2023 with with large scale concentrated armor attacks against "Surovikin" defense line gave some indications, as reported in media like the economist, forbes and similar),
Westward momentum of the front indicates the same thing. Overwhelming quantities on Russian side.

Doesn’t change one point I’ve made he is still all of the things I’ve listed and very few would choose to do business with him without the leverage he controls.

The issue is I have with this argument or discussion point is that he does have all the leverage in the world. The foundation of any business deal or any negotiation is basically understanding who has the leverage and if they know they have the leverage. To try to make a point otherwise is a fantasy.

They say who you choose to associate with reflects on the kind of person you are, is he who you’d want representing your business?
first off, who is "they"/

second, if you have a 401K, you likely have already hired such a guy to run one of the companies that are in your portfolio.

you don't want to have a beer with em, but you don't want a guy like biden/kamal running your portfolio either!

I have friends from France who have moved their businesses and families to Belgium. France is also doomed, they tell me.
Well, that’s like jumping from the pot into the fire…

Ahh yes, my wife is all three of those but she’s a fair lass!

They claim it’s the other way around when I questioned. Neither good but they believe Belgium has a more stable political future. They said they have no idea who will be the next leader in France.
