Hi WAB.

There's that word 'believe' again. You won't hear me using 'believe' with respect to consuming scientific reporting.

I accept that you've had an unsatisfactory experience with some aspects of science on the climate issue. I believe that you feel the way you've described. However, putting up the shutters is not the way to ensure you're as well informed as you would want to be. You know that science is not a 'one and done' process. It's iterative. It takes a growing body of research to form clearer views, particularly when studying dynamic and complex subjects.

I'm confident that your strong background in science causes you to remain more open minded than you suggest. :) For my part, I will keep looking at the research on climate as it builds our knowledge and understanding. Trust me, I would like nothing more than to see a trend in results showing that temperatures are remaining relatively stable and that the 'blip' we're experiencing is not anthropogenic.
You used the word “believe” in you response, just trying to be helpful.

It is clear you don't have a future as a psychic, or even so much as one of those carnival folks who guesses people's weights...

I don't know when you'll stop blaming the previous administration but I know you'll never blame the current administration as most of the die hard MAGA here.

You are missing the point completely. I am not arguing that climate change is not happening. It is, always has been, and always will be. What the scientific community has failed to do is establish a link between human activity and climate change with any scientific veracity. You have provided no such evidence, nor have I seen it elsewhere. Conversely, what I have seen are discussions belittling anyone who questions the lack of scientific rigor supporting their thesis. Apparently we are supposed to accept it regardless of the veracity of the work supporting it, and to not do so places us in the pit of the great unwashed. I am well and truly done with this discussion.

You really think it won’t go back up???
It will but when? That's the big question.
Also there's something called technical damage when markets collapse like this and when there's technical damage some stocks never recovers to their previous levels a very long time.

Not exactly right the quota was originally given to the farmers. When a farmer retires he can sell his farm whole quota cattle infrastructure and all or a child could take it over whole. If not he can sell the quota to the dairy board at which time someone else could buy in for the same amount.

Also while you hold the quota it places a monetary value on the amount of market share you own and gives you equity which can be mortgaged leverage ect. Places a value on the farm beyond the value of barns and cattle.
This is sounding kind of like the New York Taxicab Medallion thing...

Who stops a car leaving Canada entering the United States and inspects it? There for who reports how much was stopped at the Canadian boarder? Those numbers are your own.
I'm sorry, you lost me again. Were we talking about drugs heading south or guns heading north?

How does this all fit in with a Mount Tambora like event?

There is really no reason for Canadians and Americans (the general populace) to have animosity…

What all of this really amounts to is American politicians failed the American people for decades… and Canadian politicians have spent most of the Trudeau years doing their best to catch up in failing their people at an increasing rate..

Our countries are now at impasse on trade.. and the US President drives a very hard bargain in an unorthodox (and often ridiculous) manner that Canadas leadership is unprepared to deal with..

Everyone would be far better off if Trudeau and Ford sat down and shut up and let the new Canadian PM take over… and if Trump would stay off social media and let Lutnick do the job he was hired to do (he’s one of the best in the entire world at it)..

I think you are going to a pretty organized "grassroots" response in the US in the coming days. We have seen it a bit north of the border in the last few days, but it will happened here very soon. Crown will be a target, as well as others.

It is all theater, but it will happen.

You know, I like Canada. I grew up next to Canada, I've studied in Canada, I've gone out of my way to work with the Canadian military.

I have doubts on what Canada has become.

I need to learn more about the author of this article. As written, it explains much to me. It certainly explains a bit of the information operations I am seeing. I'm just not sure of its accuracy, or if the author has a bias, etc. Much of it matches my experiences. It's worth learning more.

Those stocks were then likely overvalued and a correction was likely overdue. Trump isn't managing to the stock market like he did in his first term. He is managing more to lowering the 10 year bond rate. That has longer term positive results including on the stock market.

:ROFLMAO:

Have a feeling @ActionBob could give us a detailed breakdown on Canadian milk and milk products tariffs when he shows back up.
I can only take so much politics so come and go on this thread;)

Not sure if I'm caught up on the issues but yea, Canadians are VERY protective of their dairy quota system. It heavily restricts how much milk a Canadian Dairy Farmer can produce.... I think that has been figured out already. That maintains their milk (and all Dairy products) prices very high. Europe had basically the same thing but I believe has at least partially phased them out.

I believe it was when NAFTA was negotiated those subsidies were supposed to be eliminated but Canada renigged. In fact Land O Lakes invested in a milk bottling plant in Thief River Falls Minnesota with plans to supply Winnipeg. That never happened and the plant was closed. They also promoted construction of newer/larger (for the time period) Dairy farms. The one just outside of Thief River Falls eventually went out of business and I purchased all the Dairy equipment out of it. I am the 3rd owner of the next one to the South and have since expanded it several times and we supply a large portion of the milk to Fargo from there and are expanding it again this year.

I hear that people from Vancouver and other border cities routinely stock up on American Dairy products they take back home because of the price difference.

Over the years I've visited with Canadian Dairy producers who are in favor of their system and more who are not. Granted I'm much more likely to encounter the more progressive business/expansion minded producers. There are successful Canadians who have immigrated to the US because they have wanted to modernize and expand their operations and were were fed up with the Canadian Quota system.

But just look at that cost per cow to own Quota! For about half the cost of that quota per cow, one can build a large modern cold weather new Dairy cow facility.

Therefore I call BS on the not being able to compete. We have operations in cold climates. We buy alfalfa and canola meal from Canada. So feed costs are obviously competitive and without a need to buy Quota, investment per cow could be competitive as well.

By the way, I'm still optimistic that Trump will sort out the present chaos. However milk futures prices are down significantly due to the uncertainty of retalitory Tarriffs on our products.

Just had these discussions with a group of bankers. A lot of focus on the 10 year and the forward curve of the short term rates.

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
