I have said several times that the 2 cabinet members I am most excited about are among those that are the least in the limelight.. Lutnick in Commerce and and Bessent in Treasury... both of those guys are no shit top 1% types in their fields.. not your typical cabinet level appointee put into place for political connections or their ability to navigate the travesty that is capital hil.... if they are turned loose and allowed to do their jobs.. they could make a real positive economic impact on not just our short term economy, but our long term economic resistance..
The last time around the Trump administrations treasury focused on the stock market quite a bit.. which certainly helped everyone's 401K's.. but IMO lacked much clarity in other major economic drivers..
Besset is looking in totally different areas.. he is a real deal velociraptor in the finance world.. who appears to be very focused on 10yr's.. Treasury has a ton of debt rollover to contend with and 10yrs are currently WAY too high.. 10yrs have direct impact on affordable housing and other long term economic drivers.. that is a VERY SMART move IMO.. and his 3-3-3 plan that the left wants to complain is flawed, is a proven model (assuming it is implemented and executed correctly and the politicians don't get the way like they normally do)..
and then there's Lutnick.. his thoughts on how to save $40B by putting responsibility of the next Census on the USPS is frankly brilliant IMO... combine that with all of the other things the govt spends a ton of money on that involves sending people to your house to directly interface with you (the post office is already coming to your house every day anyway).. and he may seriously be onto something..
Its normal for everyone to be paying the most attention to SECDEF, SECSTATE, the AG, etc.. those are typically the cabinet members most in the limelight that do things on a daily basis that are "newsworthy."...
But Id recommend watching some of the second tier cabinet members more closely.. the things that Lutnick, Bessent, and even Wright (energy), and Greer (US Trade Rep) have in the short term works are going to be very interesting to watch.. and have the potential to make real changes in how things look and work in this country for many years to come...
