Yes, I am sure he had it all figured out in advance - or maybe Zelensky did and he played Trump.? Point of view tends to reinforce views rather than clarify them. Trump could have preached this as a win-win from day one rather than as a 500 billion dollar shakedown. Now, to many in the world though - not his unquestioning followers of course - he looks like he was bloviating. I again thank goodness for the presence of Kellogg in Kyiv for three days of hard work.

It seems that they have found a diamond in the dung heap. I can’t wait to hear how Trump had this planned all along and orchestrated the entire negotiations from afar.

Although this is a fantastic outcome, we have seriously damaged our relationships with longstanding allies. Some may think this irrelevant, I do not.

Exactly.

But read the article and draw your own conclusions.

I don't care for the way Trump conducts himself either as I've stated before and you know. I can't recall if you've ever made any comments regarding General Patton on this thread, forgive me if I've missed them. But I see a number of parallels between the two in their personalities at least. I'm sure in many other ways they're different.

But Patton near as I can tell was a defiant self-glory seeking narcissist just as Trump. I would guess that if I had ever met the man I would've not liked him very much. But the fact is in light of what he accomplished, my opinion of how he conducted himself in doing so isn't worth a damn. What ultimately and only matters is his instrumental role in winning the war in Europe.

If this agreement turns out to be a win win as you described above, I do think it may be premature to say that at this point, does it really mean much of anything in how it came about? If the Ukrainians end up with a better economy, albeit at the expense of losing some of its land, if they get an implicit security improvement via the agreement with the U.S. and as we know already NATO has expanded it's borders, does it really matter how it was accomplished?

As far as ruffling the feathers of some of our NATO Allies goes, I think it was high time that happen. As has been noted many times the lack of funding many of those allies have put into defense and not living up to their agreements. I have no desire the USA to turn its back on NATO, but I'm quite sure those NATO allies just as strongly, likely more so, do not either.

Presumig we don't and NATO holds together as is and with an expanded presence, it would not surprise me if many of those allies think Trump was an a-hole while also being at peace in how this has worked out. So who gives a crap what they think of Trump?

Pay attention here!! Look. Look. See the shiny object! Sadly, I'm afraid at our own peril. "It's about our national interest"... or at least that is what I see preached here almost exclusively. All the while practically ignoring the big elephant in the room. Unreal. Now and then of course throw in some German or Eastern European military history minutiae along with some important sounding labels for effect if interest wanes. Then, all the clapping seals return to following the bouncing ball. My last comment on this. I'll let the real experts sort it out.

It seems that atleast some republicans are brave enough to say what they think, most I assume are afraid of the dreaded "RINO"-stamp aswell as Musk funding their opponents in re-election.

Let me play devils advocate.

I would guess that Russia stipulated that the US not “call them Bad names” in front of the UN.

If I’m a mother of a 14 yr old boy in Ukraine and my son is looking at eventual inscription (draft) into the meat grinder.

I don’t care who says what words to the UN. I want the needless war to end.

She would knock the two sides heads together and say I don’t care how you two get along. Just do it !

And I’m sure it’s still not settled. There will be hiccups and possibly skirmishes. Breaking the cease fire agreement.

Maybe we should send in Joe Biden/ Blinken and have 3 more years of war.

Yes it is that simple. An imperfect peace or an imperfect war.

I kind of agree with this theory. Usually politicians make a statement saying we condemn this with very little action or repercussions. If this is what it takes to bring an end to the war, then it is what it is.

Not saying I 100% agree with this action but the hand wringing over it, is a little tiresome.

I dunno, zelenski comes across as a begging little worm to me who’s always whining for more. Like a dog scratching at the door to be let in.

FALSE: The US did not label Canada and the EU a "National Security threat" Get your facts straight. The reference was to the US "excessive" dependence on imports from Canada/EU.

Yes please boycott the US, but first please pay us back the Billion in Defense Welfare you have taken since the end of WW II
The defense spending, it seems to me, came right back to individual corporations who profit from military arms.

It will be interesting to see what results this proposal from Trump might bring if it becomes reality, another way of imposing tariffs on China I suppose:

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
