Politics

As a Norwegian I am surprised when Trump refers to Norway and how good things are here.
He must be told very old news.

As long as we have money things are OK, problem is our money is less and less worth and our politicians wants to stop the industry thats gets us this money.
And I will not write about our educational system and "free" healthcare.

The 26000 Canadian veterans of the Korean conflict probably don’t think you did it alone.
Turks sent a regiment to Korea and suffered heavy casualties as well.

I’m going to guess @roverandbrew know who Randy Weaver, Vicki Weaver, Bo Gritz, Lin Horuchi etc better than most on this forum…

Consider the regiment Weaver claimed he served in (he didn’t), the regiment Gritz served in (he legitimately did), and the unit Horuchi served in..

And then if you’ve paid any attention to who Rover is, you’d see very direct connections…

His point is (I think… I don’t want to put words in his mouth), is what does an activity that happened quite literally before 99% of the currently serving members of the FBI graduated high school have to do with anything going on today?

Ruby Ridge happened in August of 1992… 33 years ago…

Should we also hold today’s serving agents accountable for Hoovers intel collection activities against political rivals?

Everyone that was at Ruby Ridge has long been retired… many of them are dead… it has nothing to do with today’s FBI…

If we want to hold the FBI’s leadership accountable for what the FBI has become today… how about we focus on the SES and GS15 bureaucrats that likely entered service 5-15 years after Ruby Ridge…

Saying Lon Horouchi (the sniper that shot and killed Vicki Weaver) is indicative of a currently serving FBI HRT team member is tantamount to saying George HW Bush is indicative of who we believe Donald Trump is.

Are they supposed to show a profit or provide a service?
Supposed to break even. They probably should close some offices in small town but that would be about as popular as cutting Medicaid.

Well..Norway is the only nation in Europe where life expectancy is believed to rise.. We must be doing something right..

WOW, Realtor.com has 3,143 homes listed for sale in the D.C. area. Looks like a good time to buy.

The easiest way for the postal service to save money would be suspend Saturday mail delivery but the union won’t go for that.
Closing some of the smaller offices would help to. Within 5 miles of my house I have 3 post offices. That’s a little overkill.

Agree, the post office could stand a revamping but it employs around 100,000 vets that may or may not have been employable elsewhere. I'm not a fan of reducing that count.

Agree about the veterans, they should have a job as long as they want except in special circumstances. The employees at our small post offices seem they should be non employable. I don’t think they are vets, too young and rather large shall we say. Being that lazy is not what I would expect out of a vet in my experiences.

Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium

But it is just about time, we are some years behind in eating shitty food in front of the TV.

Main point is that Norway isn't the miracle of economy, education and free healthcare that someone has painted for Mr.Trump.

He should look at Finland!

His entire being is a lie: A false self made man and rags-to-riches story, a false founder story (Paypal), and in the early days of the SpaceX venture he had a penchant for interviews with technical drawings up on screen to play pretend as if he was actively contributing to the design of the parts.

Normally wouldn't be dragged in to comment, but this one is just galling.

Everything Musk does is calculated theatre and playing pretend. He's the worst kind of habitual liar.

Glad I could drag you out to bash someone at least.

I am a big van of Ben Shapiro. It is interesting to watch him twist himself in knots to try to set the record straight without simply pointing our how bat shit crazy and untruthful the president was in his Truth text. It is a novel world where a great nation's critical foreign policy decisions hang by the thin thread of whether its aged president likes or doesn't like someone personally. Gives one an appreciation of the challenges faced by those loyal to George III. Perhaps the Time cover was more accurate than we knew.

One geographic update for Ben. Russian troops also occupy portions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson whose populations are strongly pro Ukrainian independence. I, and almost everyone else, have suggested that a withdrawal from those two provinces, but recognition of Russia's occupation of Crimea and Donbas would be a reasonable geographic basis for a solution.

Trump, however, seems determined to give Putin whatever he wants.

I’m partial to turning the entire Middle East to glass. I’d settle for Gaza though.

That's a pretty harsh and definitive desired action for someone who wants to live in a cave and wants no international involvement.

Near as I can tell Elon Musk nor DOGE has fired anyone. They don't have the power to do so, they're acting as an outside auditor and making recommendations to the President who then makes the decision.

As far as Elon being corrupt, I'm not sure one of the richest people on the planet has anything to gain say in comparison to a lifelong congressman such as Nancy Pelosi.

Edit: Just had to beat me to it didn't you @mdwest! :-)
So there’s no chance that he will use his new bromance with trump to positively influence his interests in EV, social media, brain implants, AI, or space travel? I have to disagree pretty hard with that one.

It’s not about money anymore, it’s about dominance. Why do you think him, Bezos, Zuck, and all are still at the helms and not sailing off into the sunsets? It’s an ego thing, and I hate to say it, they don’t come much bigger than Musks.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
