Absolutely agree. The only reason to help them other than our own history is because the recreation of a military Russian threat on our Eastern flank would be a disaster in our long term contest with China.

I think the bombastic and condescending approach from the general brings it on his head by his own hand.

That should carry no more weight in the opinion arena than anyone else.

In the expertise area, I love hearing from and learning from folks that give us esoteric knowledge and tell us why they know what they know.

But browbeating, being condescending, and routinely punching down on newbies is not a respect earning methodology.

Bombastic and condescending? I would prefer simply articulate, but you should really put me on ignore if my experience is so obviously offensive to you. However, I’ll offer you an observation. I am a product of those personal experiences - just as you are yours.

I would never tell you how to pull a drowning victim from the water or how to restructure any enterprise. Grant me, that I have some small inkling of how security assistance and a few other things work in the military. Have a bit of experience in that restructuring thing as well.

I have very strong feelings about the danger a resurrected Russia represents to my country in our struggle with China. It alarms me when others can’t or won’t see it. If it bothers you that I somehow debate those points too earnestly then again, read someone who irritates you less.

Canada won’t always be led by an inept fool like Trudeau. The US is in dire need of Canadian resources. Trump would do well to pay attention or he may well see these resources and alliances going elsewhere.

There is currently Australian mining firms doing extensive exploratory drilling in N.S. For lithium, there are also rumours floating around from people I know in the oil industry about asian investment in oil pipelines and refineries in exchange for a guaranteed number of years worth of supply. Trump keeps saying he doesn’t need our resources I hope he is right in the long term he might not has them to draw on.

In the lobsters industry we have already made in roads in the Asian markets and a lot of products that would of gone through New England fish markets now go directly to Asia. As a side note
you would be surprised and shocked how many of your fresh maine lobsters were actually caught in Nova Scotia.

This is the disconnect, I'm not bothered by it. The issue I have is given Ukraine 81B dollars or 200B dollars is essentially a made up number by accountants because we are giving them military aid. As a rough example, my buddy gives me a 300 dollar treestand, he can't use it so it is pretty much worth zero to him, he gives it to me and says because of age and wear he is essentially giving me 200 dollars. We have things at end of life, sell them to Ukraine for 1 dollar and have accountants take the loss on the deappreciated value.

Basically just give them what they need to actual fight. We have been too slow this whole time and it is a constant drip drip drip.

The difficulty is that our friend didn’t buy the tank. We all did collectively as taxpayers, and generally taxpayers demand an accounting of those expenses if the item is given away.

The biggest damage trump is currently doing to Canada is closing the political gap between the conservatives and the liberals.

By giving the liberals someone else to make the bad guy they closed the polls from an over twenty point gap to just 8.

Energy east is also back on the table , Irving was heavy leaning into selling out to Irish and then French companies not that far of a stretch to see the Chinese buying. In the eyes of Canadians if Irving’s name is on it it’s all home grown.

Agreed. I cut my teeth at the Irving refinery, one of the most advanced refineries in the world. In fact, in the nineties, when Koch Industries looked globally to pick the best refinery to model their operations from, they chose Irving. I fear that US arrogance will ultimately be our downfall.

You’ve spent enough time in Atlantic Canada to know if the Chinese buy Irving they not only get the oil industry but a heavy share of the soft wood lumber industry as well.

I see you conveniently left out that the reason for the alternate pipeline to the west coast was a result of Biden nixing the Keystone in 2021.

Calling Trudeau the governor of the fifty first state and referring to Canada as the fifty first state would be a good place to start. Throwing our country’s economy into turmoil in order to renegotiate a deal that he negotiated in the first place ahead of schedule is also a pretty good dig.

I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. Just one more instance where the US appears to be trying to drive Canadian resources to other shores. And yes, I am well aware of it, the CEO of that corporation is an acquaintance of mine.
