The funny and sad part about this assertion above is that the U.S.A. has always had the "hammer" at its disposal among an arsenal of softer, more nuanced, diplomatic solutions... It's just that until Trump, there has been no RINO, and certainly no democrat, who had the balls to use it or even threaten it...! Trump threatens the hammer far more that he uses it, and the effectiveness speaks for itself...



And BTW, I have talked with more than a few Canadians about their thoughts on Trump... My part of South Florida gets flooded with Canadian snowbirds this time of year... I golf with a few, and fish (and drink) with many more... They are not insulted in the least... ALL of them get Trump and despise Trudeau... Not sure which Canadians you personally know who are so sensitive? I would think especially not the hockey players? I guess that proves that Canadians are not politically monolithic...

You have missed my point. I will try not to be so obtuse, Trump is treating Canada, a long time ally and friend, in much the same way he is treating China, a long time competitor and potentially dangerous adversary. While doing so, he is going out of his way to insult as many Canadians as possible, not just their inept leadership. Foreign relations should not look like a giant game of whack-a-mole. And I don’t have TDS. I actually like much of what he is doing, but I will call out his mistakes, and I believe that this is one.

As to your knowledge of Canada and Canadians, I am quite certain that I am far more qualified to comment, but it’s really not worth further discussion.

I would think it’s not worth taking Trump’s comments too seriously. He is not talking specifically about you or I. It’s just politics.

If I’m not mistaken Trudeau made a similar comment regarding our future election and his hopes that we won’t make the foolish mistake our neighbours did (voting for the opposition) - in fact calling the majority of our neighbours foolish. Not many members got offended on this forum.

And truth being told, in a democracy when an idiot is elected, the majority is well represented. So if Trump teases our majority for our leadership, I personally don’t get offended.

In fact I hope they will get sufficiently offended to open their eyes for the next time they’ll find themselves in a voting booth.

Foreign policy is another matter. I wish we could tell folks in other countries to ignore those ridiculous, bombastic remarks. However, what he says really sets the foundation for our foreign policy, regardless of how off the wall it may be.

Apologies if this is a repetition, but we had an announcement here in the UK yesterday that following a consultation to which there was an 80% response to not further restrictions on gun ownership, our government is now looking at giving the police the right to search firearms owner's houses without a warrant and more worryingly to reclassify shotguns as firearms.

There is currently a much more relaxed regime for shotguns, were there are no restrictions on the number you can own once you have a certificate.

Under the new system, all shotgun cartridges will need to be kept in a locked safe and the ownership of each shotgun will need to be individually justified every five years.

As it is very hard to justify two firearms of the same calibre, I can see a lot of pairs of guns heading over the pond very cheaply if this happens and given that it is taking around 8 months to either get a licence or vary one, I suspect a lot of people will give up.

There will be some very good deals on Holts soon. it might not pass, but given our government's open disdain for anything connected to the countryside, I would be surprised if it doesn't pass.

We have a weekly announcement of something designed to punish the rural community. Farm taxes, removal of support payments, threats of methane taxes on livestock etc, hunting bans in Scotland and one on the way in England. The next election can't come soon enough.

Our Prime Minister justified all of this earlier in the week by saying the public need to choose between supporting farmers or nurses...

My neighbour's sons and a relative are all in their 20s and are emigrating to Ireland, Wisconsin and Namibia later this year.

At least I live in a nice place though!

You might be right, but I’ll emphasize that our foreign policy is set by our own government. And our government should be our first concern. Because the US policy will change depending of whom they have to deal with.

I read that Musk committed four months 100% to DOGE and that he is basically spending 24/7 there including sleeping on site. I am sure there will be trips and meetings. Musk already had his own private security that was supposedly increased after the election. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't already have a food taster. He is upsetting a lot of piggy banks and powerful people.

I don't consider Musk as any type of savior, and I honestly don't care for the guy. Just another billionaire douchebag.
Personal feelings aside, I do appreciate that someone is taking a deep dive into the swamp, and ferreting out the ,waste corruption, and putting things in the spotlight.
Musk is not invincible, and needs to be careful. There are some areas of the deep state that will send some covert bad guy's after you. That's all I'm saying.
