Ttrying to meddle with 14th amendment sets a dangerous precedence. Somebody else might try to question the word militia in the second amendment in the future. Amendments should only be changed or deleted lawfully in the congress regardless of their content.
This is a slippery slope.
Not a word in that amendment is being "changed or deleted." It is simply being reinterpreted by a new administration. I frankly think the new interpretation reflects the actual intent of that amendment to address the status of slaves and repudiate Dred Scott rather than its current expansive interpretation to be universally extended to anyone born in the US. This interpretation will indeed be challenged, and I am sure it will wind its way to an eventual SCOTUS decision. Based on the actual history of the amendment, I suspect the administration actually will prevail.

I personally strongly support the reinterpretation. It would also align the US with virtually every other nation on the planet.

With respect to the second, that restrictive reinterpretation not only can, but likely will occur whenever the Supreme Court again has a liberal majority.

This is the WH statement that was released along with the Presidential Order.

I respectfully disagree. 14th amendment has hundreds of years of interpretation behind it. You challenge that anything can be challenged. Are we going to approve the ones we like but oppose the ones we don’t like? This a very dangerous path and two edged knife. Supreme Court is not the place to approve or disapprove. People are and it is 2/3 of the congress if I’m not wrong.

It was only adopted in 1868, so that is hardly "hundreds of years of interpretation behind it." It is a historical fact that it was adopted to clarify the status of slaves following the War Between the States. The first case before the court involving foreign birthright was in 1898. That decision and precedent is is no more permanently enshrined in law than Roe V Wade.

You don't believe the Supreme Court is the place where constitutional interpretations and the application to law should take place?

Sadly this is mostly theatrics and symbolic... (although Im ok with it.. these theatrics send a message)... The majority of the people involved in the hunter biden laptop thing from the IC are completely retired at this point.. no longer working with or for the US Govt in any capacity.. and therefore not in need of a clearance... one of them is dead (definitely doesn't need a clearance anymore)..

Bolton in particular is 76 years old and has been retired since 2019... he certainly wasn't going to be working on anything with any govt agency as either a govt employee or as a contractor for the next 4 years.. by the time Trump leaves office Bolton will be 80.. He also doesn't need a clearance...

What this will do is make Bolton "relevant" again for the next few months... over the course of the next 90-120 days he'll command a $50K (or greater) fee for appearing on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc.. to talk about what a totalitarian government Trump is running, how he is Hitler reincarnated, etc..etc..

By June the world will have mostly forgotten who Bolton is.. but between now and then he'll pick up a whole lot of extra cash as a result of this action..

and again, he was never going to use that clearance again anyway... he certainly isn't currently read in on anything... and wasn't going to be involved in anything with the new administration in place.. and by the time he MIGHT have had a chance (also wasn't going to be used by the next POTUS administration if its another hard right leaning republican).. he'd be 80 and would have been completely removed from world affairs for more than a decade (of no real value)..

The real value in this is.. Trump is sending a message to all that might think this behavior is acceptable in the future...

Lie and sign a document attesting to that lie.. and he'll make sure your clearance is suspended and he will pursue you criminally and civilly... there will be consequences for the action...

Where if not at the USSC, are issues of constitutionality, supposed to be decided? Your statement makes absolutely zero sense….

So, I will disagree just a little bit. These guys populate a lot of think tank and Federal boards. For instance, and the one of which I am personally most familiar, the US Army has the Army Science Board. The members aren't really paid, other than expenses, but they do exert meaningful influence on the direction of Army technical and scientific development efforts. Current security clearances are necessary. The intel world, uniformed and civilian, has similar honorary, but still influential, positions. Think tank membership by senior intel veterans is an advantage to the organization due to their continued access as much as their experience.

This is very timely. If the republican party can somehow manage a couple of administrations, I suspect this whole trans nonsense will have become an unhealthy footnote in the nation's history. It is unlikely restoration of the trans agenda will be a strong political platform eight or twelve years from now.

JK Rowling (the multi-billionaire creator of Harry Potter for the illiterates among us) is not only a fearless advocate of gender sanity, but is also scathingly brilliant. Over on X a trans doctor used a photoshopped picture of her meeting with Hitler. Have to love her response.

Definitely some truth in that if theyre trying to continue to assert influence via various boards and think tanks..

my old "boss" went that route when he left the World Bank (after leaving the Deputy SECDEF position).. but for the most part pursued corporate board positions (where the clearance wasn't required, but he would be well compensated).. the exceptions for him though are significant.. he's a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute... he is also a Distinguished Fellow at the Hoover Institute.. Im certain both of those positions require him to maintain his clearance based on the work they do on the behalf of the USG..

Well said sir and I agree with you….

I know of one illegal couple who had 4 anchor babies and use their SS#’s to run illegal enterprises.

Their children are the owners of 3 rent houses(on paper) and those rent houses are filled with more illegal tenants that pay rent in cash.

Birth right citizenship has been a detriment to this nation for generations.

I think all but the extreme left have pretty much realized the insanity of the whole "transgender" thing... while many wont outright condemn it, what you're not seeing anymore is open support of it either..

the boys peeing in girls bathrooms argument wasn't strong enough to slow the movement..

but a turkish man physically beating a woman senseless in the olympics.. and multiple men dominating women sports have at this point made the anyone that isn't on the outrageous left pick a side...

are they in favor of "women rights" or trans rights? its nearly impossible to support both in a number of different situations..

I think what we'll largely see is most of the left simply going silent on all things trans (and probably get a bit quieter overall on most things LBGTQ+).. while increasing the volume on all things "women" (reproductive rights, etc etc etc)..

So..Trump want to deport how many paperless immigrants... Tens of thousands..? Who will replace them to do jobs that the average americans dont want..?

No matter how you slice it they are a part of the american economy..

Get a bunch of the welfare and unemployed flakes off their asses. They either work or lose their handouts. I can condone LEGAL immigrants entering the country to work. Many are highly skilled or professional people looking for opportunities.

thats a red herring argument.. (and frankly shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation... don't let left wing media fill your head with bullshit and lies)...

who do you think was doing those jobs 3 years ago before 10M immigrants illegally entered this country?

there are a variety of programs by which a LARGE number of people can enter this country every year LEGALLY.. which is more than is needed to cover down on the lower level, unskilled or semi skilled jobs that the typical American doesn't want to do (Christmas tree farming for example is largely done by seasonal migrant workers)..

No one that has any sense wants to see no immigrants coming to the US...

What is wanted is for the immigrants that come to the US be vetted as not being criminals, not having mental health issues, etc.. and for the number that come into the country to be the number needed to fill the jobs traditionally filled by immigrant labor..

Other than she was born over 20 years after Hitler died, how did she respond?

In the USA capitalist economy, illegals keep wages low.

In socialist economies the government sets the wages, work hours, and even opening and closing times of stores.

See the difference? You are welcome :)

The illegal gang members, criminals, child traffickers, drug runners and other human trash will be the first to be deported.

They are a part of the American economy because illegals have been used to stagnate the wages of American citizens. I've heard the worn out "Jobs Americans won't do" argument my entire life and it's usually coming from someone whos' business profit margins rely on cheap labor.

When the boat lifts from Cuba to Florida started under Carter, within 2 years the starting pay for construction workers in south Florida had fallen by 20%; then came Reagan's ridiculous 1986 amnesty that made California a permanent blue state and doomed the American worker to stagnant wages ever since.

Just 3 generations ago an American construction worker could support a family of 4 with a stay at home wife on construction worker pay; it's not that Americans will not do these jobs, its a case of why would you go into a dead end career where you are hated on the jobsite because you don't speak the appropriate foreign language.

Simply open the link and the response is below the photo. It is funny. It is likely also telling the vast majority of responses are supportive of her.
