I'm from Grand Cheniere about 20 miles east of cameron. The regulations are so strict you can't afford to live there. If I want to build a house out of my own pocket I should be able to. But you have to have insurance to get electricity.
As you well know, the same has occurred in places like Creole and Hackberry, Louisiana south of Lake Charles. It is also becoming a bit insane in the thunderstorm belt here in Central Texas. We have friends that inherited their old family place outside Salado, TX. It is a two story ranch/plantation from the 1850's. We had hail storms a year ago which damaged their roof and took out a number of windows. Their insurance picked up the tab, but then raised their premium to 44k a year. It had been 15K.

Between property taxes and insurance, that is pretty steep annual rent of one's own place.

and how (y), how I hated the Punic Wars in school.
As pupils we used to say “Fuck Cato” :ROFLMAO:
I was none too fond of Julius Caesar or Gaul either.

I always wondered how Rome could have salted the earth in Carthage. I mean, it seems like it would take an awful lot of salt, and an awful lot of work plowing it all in. I hadn't considered just pumping sea water over it all. A lot of work pumping in a pre-industrial age, but easier than plowing. I guess now we all have to say "California Delenda Est."

Maybe a huge (battery powered) reverse osmosis unit?
Yeah, I'm sure the people that have lost their homes and everything they had, would be more concerned about having a nice garden and green grass.

Trump hidden behind a pillar. Accidental? I think not.

He has pushed the independence aspect to the fore me thinks, and the greenlanders saying they want to do any negotiations themselves not the Danish government in any aspects of investment etc etc etc.....to me he seems to like throwing a grenade into the pot and see how the results go....then work it from there....

California leftists hate Trump......until they need something from him. They will be begging for disaster relief soon, and have American taxpayers foot the bill for the consequences of moronic policies.
Not Trump specifically but Federal government for disaster relief, which is one of the jobs of the Feds that both the left and right agree on. Also, Biden already announced relief.

And I’d submit that those impacted in CA paid heck a lot more in taxes than those that were impacted by the hurricanes on the East coast recently. CA as the highest tax paying State does subsidize a lot of the red states. I’d think tech bros of CA might pay heck a lot more in taxes than the hillbillies of TN.

Also a lot of the moronic policies are implemented by the forest service as well which is a Federal entity. Not to say locals weren’t moronic over the years either.

I have said for years the best thing this country could do is build a pipeline system to transport water. There is always part of the US getting hit with storms and have an over abundance of water while other states are in drought conditions.
We could easily pump water to where it is needed and always have an abundant supply stored from Mother Nature.

All the taxes generated in California doesn't alleviate the fact that far left policies created the inability to have an adequate water supply.
Now the taxes of the many, have to pay for the incompetence of an elected few

Maybe those Tennessee hillbillies can send some water over.

The problem was not just the water supply per se. It was a multitude of things. First, there was no clearing of brush etc. as Feds found a mouse that was being impacted so they forbid clearing it. Second a local reservoir was empty due to repairs on its cover (idiotic, why do it during fire season). Third billions of gallons of water were available at other reservoirs but LADWP for years have neglected upgrading pump stations for specifically for this type of event.

One of my electrical subs sent all their people to LA to hook up temporary generators to pump stations as they were lacking even that capability. We have a contract with another municipality to put in place the capability to hook up temporary generators for storm stations as they realized in recent years Edison is unreliable.

But you are right overall, LA officials had other priorities.

In his podcast recently, ABL said that the three top fire officials in LA are all women. All lesbians. All named Kristina. Statistically almost impossible. His opinion that hiring was DEI based seems likely. I looked them up. He is wrong. Actually, only two of them are named Kristina. The third goes by Kristie. WTF is going on in the govt of the once great State of California? Perhaps we can get back to hiring the best person for the job, regardless?............FWB

Evidently Oregon sends 60 Fire Trucks to help California but they are held up to make sure they pass California emissions tests. All the while more CO2 is pumped into the atmosphere in a minute from the fires than the 60 trucks will emit in their lifespan.

Instead of building reservoirs CA built storm drains and sent all that water right into the ocean and then cry when things burn. Real brilliant, people.

So once again taxpayers will pay for these government screw ups. Same thing happened in New Orleans and their corrupt Democrat led gov't and the pumps failing during Katrina.

As far as the hill billies in TN, NC and VA, good grief man, you really are a Democrat at heart.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
