California Wildfires: Talking with a friend from California who told me that most homeowner's insurance does not cover wildfires. If your toaster burns your house down, that is covered. If a wildfire sweeps your neighborhood and burns you out, you are not covered. Hoping for the best for my friends in Ca. Gonna talk with insurance agent soon. FWIW.............FWB

I just saw that State Farm cut 30,000 policies in CA over the last two years. I grew up not too far off the Mississippi. A home can only get flooded so many times before the insurance company won't touch you anymore.

In this case if CA had done things differently, maybe insurance companies wouldn't have had to cut ties.

How many wars occurred in the empires in Europe? Yes they were forced onto reservations if they wanted to have a sovereign homeland within the USA but they are free to leave. Did you know they receive a monthly check from the government Bureau of Indian Affairs? Does your government pay the losers of previous wars? They are also allowed to collect welfare payments and payments from other social programs. They get free health and dental care that other Americans have to pay for. They can go to public colleges for free. Educate yourself and don’t believe everything your liberal media bloviates.

Yeah our lovely Biden FEMA Department came up with maps designating “brush fire zones” here in Colorado as well. My insurance was canceled by Allstate, the “You’re in good hands” company?!? I have no native trees on my property at all. I only have some planted trees for landscaping purposes in my xeriscaped rock beds. What a joke. My property is all pastureland in the foothills. I didn’t have insurance for three days because for a month, I couldn’t find a residential insurance company to cover my house. Each company would lead me along and then turn me down in the end. I had to get a farm/ranch policy at considerably more expense. Thanks FEMA!

Scott, I am somewhat of a hypocrite. My house is surrounded by 80 to 100 foot mature trees. I live in a remote area myself.

The difference is. I routinely cut dead and dying trees down. And “I don’t need no stinking permit” The nearest small town with an all volunteer fire dept is 5 miles away. but would be here in :10 -:15 with at least one truck. Others would follow. For my very cheap property taxes I get what I pay for.

My local village isn’t promoting homelessness and open drug use. Spending more on that than vital infrastructure.

I would be a little upset if my house burns down. And they don’t have the people or resources to put it out because they choose to spend money on social Justice programs instead of legacy government services. Police, fire, water and sewer.

How many times have we thought. Well maybe this will wake these people up to what they have been voting for. This is too small of a percentage of the CA voter to impact Newsome. Maybe Bass but the CA voter lives in a different reality than many of us. I lived in Coronado and San Diego. the weather is great. The people are nice. But they vote independently of their own welfare.

I don't think the case was unconstitutional per se, which is, in part, why Roberts and Barret did not join the other conservatives. One of the several reversible issues is indeed the notion of a New York court taking up a case normally usually most of time reserved for the federal courts. I think what both justices are simply saying is let the regular order of appeal play out in the state court before the Supreme Court takes up the case. Other than the scarlet letter "F" which Trump is forced to wear until the verdict is overturned, nothing has been imposed that affects his presidency.
