As for the police incident: officer and 70 year old Vietnamese male.

A lot of unknowns is an understatement.

Excessive of force by the officer: via the officer's body cam and the audio. IMO as a former LEO and a family of LEOs; this officer's voice indicates he (the officer) is agitated, has allowed the 70 year old driver to get to close, or perhaps the officer "drifted in range" was looking for an excuse to "get rough". As the driver was jestering communication with his hands in a casual non threatening manner.

Why didn't the officer ask the younger, possibly relative, present to assist in translating to the 70 year old the nature of the ticket and the procedural options. More often than not younger nationalities comprehend American English better than most Americans. And why too often becomes an ibstant agitator to LEOs working the "streets/highways".

The old man's body language also looked pretty casual and non-aggressive. Furthermore, in some countries its not unusual to gesture with your hands and even to touch the other person while talking to them. I don't see him winding up his hand to hit the officer. It lightly touched the cop, who may have deliberately walked into it.

The cop also put himself in a worse position after "forcibly restraining" the old man. Prior to "restraining" the man the cop was standing and facing both individuals/"potential threats". After "restraining" the old man the cop was on the ground and had his back turned to the young lady (the second "potential threat"). Not only that he had just "forcibly (read violently) restrained" her older relative/accomplice. That would have been her best opportunity to attack him if she felt so inclined. I honestly don't see a rational justification for his actions...

This is a good example of just because something is legal doesn't mean you should do it. Think about it, compared to the general American populace, members of this forum are for the most part very right leaning and pro LE. Yet a number of members here are finding this incident difficult to stomach. Imagine how it looks to most Americans who see this. And then people wonder why more stringent ROE regs get passed, why the defund the police movement grows, etc...

One caution about the topic being discussed here is the potential for CGI-AI generated video “evidence”. We may be entering a time when we can’t always trust our eyes. Not a comforting thought!

Great point. And a disconcerting one.

We live in times of classical propaganda now being paired with enhanced virtual propaganda.

Definitely not boring times at least.

I'm surprised NOLA police decided the recent activity was terrorism....it's only a slight notch up from typical Friday night driving/road rage in Dallas....(tongue in cheek)

Particularly when a large set of the population apparently will believe anything they read on the internet. Spend twenty or thirty minutes perusing X and you will come away despondent about the future of the human race. You will also need a bath.

Ukraine's 155th mechanized brigade was trained in France and equipped with western kit. It was touted as an "elite" and well armed brigade that would break through the Russian defensive lines. Upon reaching the front-line near Pokrovsk 1700 of its members went AWOL:

https://english.alarabiya.net/News/...dreds-went-awol-from-france-trained-army-unit

It seems that the French have done a fine job of training this brigade in the art of retreat err I mean backwards advancement.

Here is also some go-pro footage of a knife fight between a Ukrainian and Russian soldier:

https://funker530.com/video/nsfw-se...WdPScFZIENMzXLVP2w_aem_Uq7Ui3xpBdIOWD-XokXwlQ

The knife fight starts at around the 8 minute mark. The footage is extremely brutal.

That knife fight shows why the top tier guys all learn and practice all forms of grappling. If your offspring want to go into a combat role make them compete in wrestling. Or learn privately.

The guy that lost the fight and his life should have spent more effort fighting instead of begging for “Grace” or mercy for :10

Republicans so far seem to be doing their best to shoot themselves in the foot before the second Trump admin even gets started.

A tiny minority will succeed in proving that the republican party is incapable of governing. Trump's agenda will be stalled at best, and a frustrated electorate will shift the house back to the democrat party in 26. These "noble" holdouts, who no doubt believe they are the true conservatives or MAGA or whatever, could not do more to harm Trump and the republican party and to further the democrat party's interests if they actually switched parties.

Joe Concha, as usual, is on point.

We conservatives want 100% pure conservative bills and legislation. BUT !!!

We barely hold both chambers. Wouldn’t it be nice if Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky. And the other purists held off on the purity purge until after Trump is a lame duck in 18 months. Then lay waste to the speaker or the other impure Republicans as you wish. But now, during the first 100 days is not the time for grandstanding.

I’m holding out hope the first vote was just a protest vote with the intention of ending this circus on the 2nd vote. We shall see if that’s just wishful thinking. I don’t see eye to eye with Johnson either, but wasting time fiddle farting over ideology is stupid.

Never been on X and somehow don’t feel I’ve missed anything!

It's actually the best of the worst, not sure why the recent digs. You have freedom of speech. They don't use leftist stooge organizations for fact checkers, its' self policed for quality of content via community notes, etc.

Contrast that to FB that is full of scams and you can get banned for saying any fact in a calm way. I got a post on FB taken down years ago when I explained Mandela's life is complicated in that he did support terrorists at a period in his life and it resulted in innocent people being killed with bombs. (true) Pretty tame stuff and certainly not an opinion, just the historic record. On FB, that will get you in trouble but on X you get free exchange of ideas, facts, information, and even misinformation.

FB banned ZeroHedge for accurately reporting credible medical evidence that Covid-19 was a virus leaked from Wuhan. Why would anyone want to support a social platform that suppresses truth?

Anyone care to take a bet whether Massie gets a primary challenger endorsed by Trump?

So from what Ive seen now, the man who blew himself up at the Vegas Trump hotel , left a I phone note. , he had PTSD and mourned the buddies he had lost and also the guys He had taken out, was fed up with leadership politics and had just separated from his 2nd wife, was actually a trump supporter for what its worth. FEEL really bad that combat vets don't get some healing help before it comes to this type of thing. ya just dont know how some people are hurting, that seem to be ok, but theyre not ok. may God rest his troubled soul. sad!

without a bettrer view of the fight , its hard to say wrestling skills would have helped much, better strength and wind ,definetly would, and some ju jitsu skills, being on bottom trying to fend off that knife about all I could see was a quick jab to the throat or rip out an eye ,which it looked like he was trying to do.At any rate having a gasping conversation with the guy Killing you is primeval and desperate. thats a tuff way to die until the headshot put him out. Looked to me the Russian asian won.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
