I feel we need to build some state of the art refineries.

Is it accurate that we have not built a refinery since the 70’s? That seems hard to believe.

I do know that a lot of wells in the gulf have been capped and taken down, a lot of the rigs we used to fish around no longer exist.

You are correct. In 1977 cherry point Washington and North Pole Alaska were completed to process ANS transported by the trans Alaska pipeline. I had the honor to lead the Fairbanks refinery for a period of time.

In my career the number of refineries in the US declined from 215 to 157. However, refining capacity increased due to expansion of the survivors. Trump can best aid US processing capacity by taking the regulatory shackles off the expansion and upgrade of the remaining refineries.

I was contacted earlier today by a Trump team vetting people for consideration for Secretary of the Air Force. Apparently, I passed the first round since I have indeed flown in an airplane. I'll keep everyone posted, but I like my chances.

But did you wear a MAGA hat when you were flying said airplane?

Ridiculous. Thune gets things done and he will help Trump tremendously. Scott is fine but bungled the 2022 “red wave” when he was in charge of senate election support in 2022. He doesn’t have the street cred, connections or experience rallying the troops yet.
You miss the point.
Some of us don’t want to get things done. We want a government that cannot govern because that’s when the power lies with the people and not a bureaucrat.

Since you have flown in an airplane you are disqualified.
I want someone with a fresh set of eyes looking at it for the first time.

Impressive dogfight maneuverability but...
I think most dogfights now will be at long range and be won by a plane's sensors, fire control, and missiles.

When it comes to the cutting edge electronic systems, I will bet on Yankee ingenuity any day!
The Air Force always forgets their primary mission and wants sexy jets instead of the Plain Jane bombers and Warthogs.

Air Force is there for support of the ground forces. The chair warmers at the top and in procurement always seem to forget that. More bombers less sexy jets.

I slept in a Holiday inn last night.

I’m not sure how they did it… but they convinced me to jump out of one several times… :D

Yes, those 70 year old B52s are really sexy, NOT. But they get the job done and they are one heck of a deterrent.

BTW, supporting ground troops is just one of the missions of the AF. Ruling the skies, air superiority or air supremacy in the biggie. Strategic bombing, global airlift, strategic refueling, maybe launch an ICBM and whenever possible, make fun of Space Force Guardians. I’m sure there are a few more.
