Politics

I just wrote an email to both of my US Senators, John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy, urging them to not confirm Pete Hegseth as SOD. The Republican controlled Senate can do both the President and our country a favor by insisting a more qualified person is nominated. The Senate should not just rubber stamp everything that Trump sends their way.

I urge others to write their Senators too.

I'm 375 Ruger Fan and I approved this message. :)
I totally agree.
A disastrous choice and should be reversed before it's too late.
But I'm afraid he won't be the only one.
IMHO Elon is a terrible choice to lead anything as well.
I have a feeling my buyers remorse will set in early.

Point of fact my friend @sgt_zim , my Marine Corps continues to meet its recruiting goals.

Sergeant Major Ruiz, the 20th Sergeant Mojor of the Marine Corps explains why young men and women desire to become Marines;

For those with limited Internet bandwidth, SgtMaj Ruiz starts by stating, "It is irrational to be a Marine". Truer words were never spoken!
He contines on... "warfighting. That's who we are. That's why we exist."
Yes for Marine Corps, I'm proud to say but not for other services.

Gaetz has voted more with Democrats than the GOP in this House session on substantial votes.

BS...!

What "substantial" votes are you referring to exactly?

Don't hold your breath where Gaetz is concerned...

He just crushed a Kevin McCarthy-backed primary challenger with 76% of the vote, and has dominated his general election bids by an average of 38% margin of victory...

Gaetz arguably represents the most MAGA district in Florida, if not the country... His anti D.C., establishment-defiant platform is hugely popular with his electorate... I doubt any politician in the country currently enjoys a more secure constituency.
It’s hard to believe that the same district has given us Gaetz and Joe Scarborough, I know he was a republican while in Congress but has become a total flake! I got a chuckle out of Joe when before the election he asked “who raised these people?” I was thinking, it was the people that voted for you years ago.

Really good little essay by Keenan today. I think most would acknowledge that though cultural change is evolutionary, it tends to swing like a pendulum. There is considerable evidence, supported by this election, the fraternity brothers at UNC, and Trump's reception at places like the Alabama Georgia game this year that the postmillennials are going to be far more conservative than the young "adults" populating tick tock with their blue hair, nose rings, beta male values and post election hysteria. One can hope.

So, you’re a Never Trumper, that wants the swamp to remain as is, huh?

I gladly voted for Trump in 2016 and relunctantly voted for him in 2020 and 2024. Since you are a self described Neophyte, I am going to let your uninformed comment slide. Have a nice day.

A bit late here, but from RSA,,,,
1918/11/11 11th hour 11th minute the guns fell silent...

106 years ago today, this telegram was sent by the 5th Tank Brigade to the 8th Tank Battalion - notifying them of the end of hostilities.
The guns fell silent, and 4 years of war were over. [1918]

My grandfather, a courier in WWI delivered a message to a general--he did not know that it stated the war was over!

US oil and natural gas production has been at or near record levels for the past few years. There's not much capacity to allow for much more upside. Biden did kill some major pipeline projects and LNG exports. Righting these wrongs will help, but they will take time. It is much more complex than simply yelling, "Drill baby drill!"

Every company is different, as the article mentions. EM is definitely ramping up in the Permian in TX and the Delaware in NM. My son is a PE there. Lots of rigs. He deals with the BLM in NM and permitting for wells and pipelines is definitely slow. Perhaps Trump can speed things up.

He was in the Bakken where production has slowed but he tells me that more rigs are headed to the Bakken now. Pipeline permitting definitely slows things down there as well but most of the wells are on private land so well permits are not as much of a problem. Interestingly however, EM has sold off their holdings on the Native American reservations in the Bakken perhaps due to the difficulties with corruption and other issues.

This was pretty much expected.

And Thune then elected.

Interesting that Trump opted to stay out of it.

Thank God not Cornyn. I think he's about as bad as McConnell. The one thing I will say about the turtle is his grudge from the Bork hearings never wavered.

Sad how some people on AH don’t even know Thune but have a negative opinion. Thune knocked Democratic Leader Daschle out of the senate in 2004 with 80% voter turnout. It was the first time since 1952 that someone had defeated a sitting senate leader. He’s been a star ever since and is solidly conservative. He called on Mueller to end the Trump Russian investigation hoax. He’s solidly pro-gun. He’s solidly low taxes. He’s from a solidly red state. I would be happy with either Thune or Scott as Majority Leader. Geez, give the guy a chance!
