Obama to black men: If y-all don’t get excited like y-all did for me and vote for a word salad born in a middle-class neighborhood with nice lawns who only recently identified as black, y-all ain’t black. Now who’s the racist? I find that those who all too frequently speak out against racism are the true racists. Prove me wrong!!

Nobody set race relations back more in the US than Obama.

And nobody before or since has been in such a prestigious position to do positive things. Yet he chose the dark path.... i.e. Michael Brown could have been his son..... A thug out looting and defying authority.

Obama could have gathered the facts first. But he firmly believes that facts don't matter. Only politics matter.

He could have pointed out that if Michael Brown had obeyed the request of that police officer to get out of the street. If Michael Brown had spent his time being helpful and doing productive things within his community instead of petty theft and being a bully and a thug... he would not have been shot. In fact even being the thug and crook that he was, had he not tried wrestling a gun from a police officer. He would not have been shot.

But that would have required Obama to take the high road instead of just going along with the mob and in fact throwing gasoline on the fire.

Remember, Obama, Holder, Hildabeast, and their slimy colleagues are from Chicago.

Canadian police official (at 1:35 in video but best to start at begining or at least 0:53), "Mr. Ness, I do not approve ou your methods."
Elliot Ness, "Yeah, well you're not from Chicago."

For the moment yes, but I question the durability of the Trump "movement" whatever that actually is, absent Trump. With respect to your list -

Trump - obviously, but very limited continuing relevance - an age and term limitation thing.

Vance - potentially, but we will not know until 2028. I do think he has the opportunity to bridge the personality cult that is totally married to Trump with traditional conservatives, and does seem to have the intelligence not to immediately alienate those that don't meet some sort of purity test.

RFK Jr and Gabbard are of almost no consequence to the republican party nor will they be in the future. I think they are frankly of little consequence in this election, but it is clearly better to have them on the republican side.

Musk is relevant from an alternative information perspective. We'll see if anything comes of his potential role in a new administration.

I think the real change will occur when Trump leaves the stage. That, to my mind, has the potential to affect the democrat party at least as much as the republican. I am certain a significant portion of the democrat party is as uncomfortable with wokism, radical gender policies, neo racism, and Marxism as the staunchest conservative. However, they are united in their fear of a second Donald Trump presidency. I hasten to add that I am passing no judgement on those fears, but I suspect the radical democrats will have enormous difficulty maintaining a unified party without Trump.

That group of moderates represent the real opportunity to expand the republican tent beyond this election. There are a number of potential candidates that could lead that effort.

I agree with most of your points. Regarding:

Trump- If Trump can bring peace to the middle east and reach a peace in Ukraine along with keeping the world in order as he did in his first term, I think the John McCain/Lindsey Graham/Dick Cheney part of the Republican party is doomed.

Vance- I agree he is the perfect segway to reconnecting with the old line of the party. Much better than Trump. In all likelihood he will continue Trump's policies.

RFK- I agree he is not a long term fit for the party and I don't think he wants to be. He has a very specific agenda regarding Dept. of Health, FDA, Dept. of Agriculture. If Trump lets him of the leash, he will make those departments unrecognizable. Casey and Calley Means will be the significant figures in these areas for decades.

Gabbard- Here is where I would disagree with you. If Trump wins and has a successful Presidency, I think Gabbard is one of the new faces in the party alongside people like Vance and Ramaswamy. If Trump looses, she is probably a nonfactor going forward.

Musk- This is the biggest unknown to me. Musk tried to stay apolitical. He felt free speech was threatened enough he was willing to loose $44B to keep it. If it wasn't for X, there would be no significant outlet for Trump, his policies and supporters. If Trump wins, Musk will not be part of the administration but a special advisor. It was telling in his interview this week when he said he felt the government agencies could be cut from 430 down to 99. I doubt Musk says that without having already run this past Trump. The government contractor/consultancy business is probably the first thing on the block. There will always be a need for specialized services that are unavailable in the GS/ES pay scale, but those companies will probably get a major haircut with many not surviving. Will this happen at scale. Only time will tell. It would be a massive undertaking with many years of litigation. What I do know is I would not want to own a house in greater DC right now.

I have been critical of the Republican party. That's not to mean the Democrats aren't in worse shape. If they loose the election they will have to completely rethink and remake their platform. The division within the Democrat party is only splintering them further. A loss in 2024 completely washes away the old guard. The battle will be between the woke/socialist wing of the party and the mainstream part of the party trying to get back to a more centrist position. If the left wing of the party wins the Democrats are in serious trouble.

For those that are curious as to the true situation regarding FEMA response; I think this video is the best source of information I've seen from people who are on the ground who actually know what they are doing in the Helene zone.....

@3:20 - Prepositioning in Florida for storm and arrival on scene with no government command, control or assets.
@10:30 - FEMA & MSM taking credit for saving lives/running missions that were preformed by private citizens using private aircraft
@31:50 - C17 loaded with supplies for Harris photo op, then plane/supplies were never sent.
@32:30 - Joe Biden fly over that shut down airspace & then joe couldn't remember what storm!
@35:00 - Biden interview where he couldn't remember which storm...
@36:00 - Sling load kits removed from helicopters so officials could be flown around for tours of damage, but helicopters useless for supply drops.
@40:00 - Supplies cut off from rural areas with no road access and having to lower supplies to areas with no landing zone because of lack of sling load kits
@1:01:02 - CNN is not allowed to show true storm damage
@1:06:00 - Unqualified FOR PROFIT contractors that submitted bids for relief work interfering/obstructing in recovery/rescue efforts by state guard unit and non profit.
@1:10:00 - Guardsmen that is FAA/Air Combat controller offering assistant and access to private helicopter denied because of incompetence and TFR(total flight restriction) set up to block both private and national guard helicopters from entering the area of La Fleur NC.

I have seen a couple of snippets of this interview but not near the entire thing. Ryan does a good job of asking questions and letting his guests talk. Certainly one of the better podcasters.

One could also write this as follows:

The battle will be between the far-right wing of the party and the mainstream part of the party trying to get back to a more centrist position. If the far-right wing of the party wins, the Republicans are in serious trouble as they have proven in the House that they can't govern.

I wouldnt, call,, mostly from the top down ,democrats a political party, they are more of a religion, like a satanic cult, with the plat form of trans gender , multilation of children , murder of the unborn , sex traffic ing children across the border, and a communist ,thats com -mun-ist attitude that only the gov is god,. anti christian anti christ attitude, just a thot.

Come on Bill, with that woman you are forgiven if you speak the truth. No need to pretend

You need to be more woke and stop assuming she’s a woman.

With regard to the recent support of Trump by the likes of Gabbard, RFK Jr, and Musk, I quite like Matthew Yglesias’ description of it as the “crank realignment.”

This is literally one of the worse written articles I have read. Though I can agree there are some crank theories that have come out on the right (MTG looking at you and hurricanes), to say they left doesn't have cranks or is the party of honesty and facts is insane. I would absolutely love to debate this person.

Also, getting a little tired of the only the uneducated vote for Trump. I had a family member whose household votes dem (2 bachelor's degree) telling me that my household (2 masters) and voting for Trump weren't really educated. Its unbelievable the logical pretzel people will bend themselves into trying to fit a narrative.

Yglesias? Seriously? The dude who founded Vox, and worked for Slate and The Atlantic? His take on what the GOP is doing means less than nothing. I might just as well listen to Westboro Baptist or some Imam's take on what's going on in the Catholic or Orthodox churches.

First of all, Trump has that pesky track record of lowering taxes and having a rocking economy prior to Covid-19. And that track record of basic World Peace during his tenure.

Trump probably had a much stronger base and ground game than DeSantis going in. He speaks not only with words but also with his actions that resonate extremely well with the populous. I would argue that DeSantis does as well, but his track record was of a State, not the Nation.

DeSantis gave that great briefing of his recent efforts and did it with confidence and a smooth comfortable delivery. He seems to really be in his element "getting stuff done". But so is Trump. However on the debate stage DeSantis has a grating voice, and he bounces as he makes his points. He sounds defensive where Trump is always on the offense. DeSantis seems nervous. I strongly suspect he will overcome those things and be a real contender in the future, given the chance. Trump raises his voice with tempo and strength. DeSantis gets squeaky. I think DeSantis was still in the "paying his dues" phase.

Trump connects so much better with the common folk in ways that so many over educated egotistical elitists cannot understand;) He unapologetically flaunts America's greatness. He projects strength and confidence. He seems to be as comfortable under a hard hat at a construction site or standing beside a combine in a farmers field than in the board room. Yet nobody has any doubt he can dominate a board room. Or a room full of International Leaders. Trump has bigger balls and that resonates with the electorate, especially the "room temperature" crowd.

Heck there are many of us in the "uneducated electorate" who would have preferred DeSantis this time around... But all the Lawfare and persecution brought down upon Trump was just so blatant and over reaching that our sense of fair play could not tolerate.

Talking to many of my acquaintances, and I honestly cannot think of one who measures their IQ, who had been really strong Trump supporters were moving away from Trump and preferring DeSantis. Perhaps those room temperature folks have bigger hearts than brains but they have a very strong sense of fair play.

One more uneducated observation from under my tin foil hat... And I might point out that this seems to be the opinion of another of the electorate who builds electric cars and rockets... not sure of his IQ.... If Trump doesn't win this time around, and we do not elect AND maintain a very strong Republican majority in the House and the Senate, especially the Senate... will a Republican ever win the White House again?

If you want the likes of DeSantis or even Haley to ever have a shot at the Presidency.... Vote for Trump now! Given the opportunity, the Democrats will stack the Supreme Court and use it to dismantle the Constitution as much as they can. If they can find a way, they will eliminate the Electoral College (and the first and second amendments). And they will see to it that our Borders remain open to anyone likely to vote liberal. Plus give them the right to vote.
Very well said.

Even though Marjorie Taylor Greene is apparently in step with these loonies, I would assume most on this thread would agree that believing this nonsense and then acting on it through a threat represents something close to a form of insanity?

Who is actually "far-right" to you?
