Politics

Don’t forget LOTS of old school democrats in Oklahoma that have drank the Kool-aid for generations.

I heard the local baby boomer & trailer park Democrats discussing the election back in 2008 and the topic of conversation would have been shocking to those who are not familiar with the true sentiment of most Democrats…..

“Now I don’t like it anymore than you do, but we got to vote for that N*%*#R in November; remember you was BORN’D a Democrat!”
Yep. My grandpa was one of those. He always said Obama had people above him that would keep him in line and be the power behind the scenes. That was the cope and the mental gymnastics of the day.

Apparently Georgetown, TX is the fastest growing town in the nation. It is essentially now a suburb of Austin which is also growing exponentially. People are moving here for jobs and other economic benefits such as no state income tax. Most of them come from solidly blue cities and states What is perplexing to me is that though economic reasons play a huge role in the decision to move, those same forces seem to play no role in voting. There, cultural and group values seem to prevail which are clearly no longer geographic.
I'm seeing the same thing here in NV. Corruptifornicaters are sneaking across the hills in droves and bringing their socialist nonsense with them. What used to take about 15 minutes to go from Minden to Carson City now takes up to 45 minutes. We were a strong red state until about 5 years ago. Most of the power and corruption is in Las Vegas and Reno. The rest of NV is pretty rural and conservative. This election is going to be quite interesting.

I suspect that when Companies move to places like Texas, the ownership and management that makes that decision may vote more Conservatively. However I'm sure there are many times more workers than managers who move to keep their jobs. They likely keep voting Liberal.

Perhaps Conservatives could reach out with education efforts to point out why those businesses moved and how government policies matter to their big picture, like their job!

There is some good news. Our union work force is firmly conservative now.

The DC union leaders and local leaders are still democrats. But most rank and file Michigan union members. (Excluding teachers) are conservatives now.

It is unfortunate that local politics has been increasingly subsumed by national politics and candidates feel yoked to their party’s platform.
I am afraid because of social media, there is very little local politics left. I believe that is particularly true of millennials and to a somewhat lesser degree, Gen Z. This whole conformist movement, which finds free speech - much less an alternative viewpoint - so dangerous plays out in ballot boxes wherever these automatons or cultists live. Their personal devices regularly refresh their conformism.

For someone who came of age in the "do your own thing" decades, these young people more closely resemble chanting Maoists with their little red books than citizens of a nation built upon the ideals of opportunity and individualism.

We are lucky that they have yet to find a real leader.

I will go a different direction in the predictions, I bet NY goes Red before Texas goes blue.

Remember when Florida was Purple, and we were all scared it would go Blue forever.
There are a couple of proposed Constitutional amendments ( abortion and recreational cannabis) on the ballot this year that will give some insight as to how long Florida remains a red state.

I actually do not get that at all. After the massive Auto Union contract that favored the union members, I would have thought they would be voting Democrat. The old adage "people vote with their pocketbooks" still applies.

Sir John Glubb....the fate of empires......read it and see how the timelines stack up with where we are at today......read his bio.......I don't think many, if any at all will disagree with his observations ....bob
