It was growing before the war, with arcayic equipment and resources. Since 2022, it's largely been subsidized with US funds to keep it going.

My point is with additional US investment with new machinery, technology, and infrastructure, it could be much more times presperous and profitable which greatly benefits the EU and more.

Neither did the US. Having a meeting in Saudi Arabia with Russians without Ukraine representation is NOT bringing them to the table.

I mentioned this in the past, the only way Trump can end the war quickly is by throwing Ukraine under the bus and giving Putin whatever he wants. It seems that is what is happening. Ukrainians want a lasting peace, Trump just wants a deal.

Every bargaining chip and concession one could bring to the table was given away by Trump way before the Saudi meeting. I don't have a book on "Art of the Deal", but I always tell my sales guys not to negotiate against themselves in contract negotiations before it even starts.

Edit: I don't think they can recover from the White House meeting as it would mean Trump admitting fault, and we all know that would never happen.

His current approval rating is 60-65% by the Ukrainian people - rather a remarkable achievement for a supposed stooge of the US. That makes him ten points higher than Trump. I rather imagine it is ten points higher than that today after standing up to the BS thrown at him in the Oval office. From a US perspective, this is all about US national interests. Our current abiding concern are China's ambitions. One of China's strategic goals is to abet Putin and Russia in its efforts to rebuild a dominant Eurasian position threatening Western Europe and the US. Nipping that in the bud could not be more important and there is enormous historical precedent of the dangers of appeasing such ambition.

Blaming America and its allies use to be the perverse domain of the American left. It is now embraced by the American far right. It really illustrates the truth of the observation that politics isn't left or right, it is actually a circle. The farther left and right one goes the closer political beliefs and behavior actually mirror each other.

Actually both Turkey and France attempted to broker a peace deal. It was a non-starter due to Russian demands.

Russia had no desire to go to the table other than accept Ukraine's abject surrender. It is why efforts attempted by NATO members went nowhere. That is not the basis for a negotiation. I see zero evidence to date they are willing to accept anything less with Trump. I am deeply concerned Trump may be willing to try and give them just that.

How could they try and broker a peace deal with putin ......what he wanted made it a non starter.....I really don't understand why the people on here that go on about Europe and Ukraine not going to the negotiating table don't understand this........as said there was no point ....a waste of time....bit like trying to deal with my ex wife...both are delusional and what they want is not feasible to any rational person......and this comparison isn't me trying to make a joke....just stating a fact about trying to negotiate/make a deal with someone who isn't interested...even though they say they are.....simply no point in even trying
