Why we need them? Well, simple, no US citizen white, black, whatever color you want to insert here wants to be in a roof in the middle of summer when it feels like 110 degrees. Is it right? Well, no, and I'm sure there are ways to get that work force here legally. I believe that is the issue we need to fix, simplify the way to get this work force here.

Lanes Southern Orchards does it. They bring in the work force needed legally. I'll tell you a story from a Mexican family that worked at Lanes. My wife work with a teacher and her parents worked at Lane's. They were brought in by Lane's to work on their fields. They because legal residents, then eventually US citizens. The teacher who my wife worked with was their daughter. They worked hard, and became productive US citizens, and got their daughter through college. This is how it's done and what we need.

Oscar you make real points. Many don't want to hear that we need immigrants to do certain jobs, but we do. Are there citizens who can do that work? Yes there are, but not enough of them. No where close. It has always been this way. The Chinese and Irish built the railroads. That's one example. It is not just the type of work but also the reliability of the workers. Let me tell you when you have cows to be milked, it just doesn't work to have people not show up for work on time!

As for the Orchard farm you speak of, I'm sure they are using H2A workers. We use them (South Africans mostly) to help with field work, mostly truck driving but also tractors. However that is a seasonal work visa effectively good for 9 months. The rules for that visa are that the jobs be seasonal. If that roofing company you speak of does roofing year round, they do not qualify. And any year around farm job does not either. We can use H1B visas to get veterinarians and herdsman (professionals). But there is no good available option for full time year round positions other than work permits such as Reagan issued.

The country desperately needs reformed immigration laws. Something as simple as making a modified H2A visa for year around positions doing basic labor woukd suffice. However every time something gets offered up in congress, it immediately becomes a hot potato and muddled up with both parties differing agendas. It is politics at it's worst.

I disagree. Trump should do whatever it takes to round up and deport as many Illegals as possible. And 10-20 million would be a significant start. Using the full onslaught of the "alphabet" law enforcement government agencies and appropriate military personnel available.

Based on the Latino vote that Latinos want the massive open border to be closed, and the massive illegals that were allowed to enter under Biden's and Harris' open border policy want Illegal immigrants to be deported because this flood of Illegals is taking away the jobs previous illegal and legal immigrants are currently working. And these new Illegals are more criminally intent drawing unwanted/ungarnered attention to those previously illegally in this country that actually want to be lawbiding productive citizens.

It is what It is!!. Illegal is Illegal period exclamation point!. If your in this country illegally no matter how long or why your status is Illegal and you are deported immediately!. Any and all property and assets are herby forfeited and impounded, and now property of the US Government and will be sold at auction. Such money to be used to repay the American taxpayers via Social Security/medicare receiptients, aid for Americans who though catastrophic looses due to natural disasters, military personnel with disabilities while in service to their country, the USA, and other such programs.

"Anchor Babies" get deported with their parents!! Once "Anchor Babies" obtain the age of 18 years of age and so choose to be processed may apply for citizenship as an American Citizen by birth. Vetted, and allowed (or denied) to become legal US citizens.

No such thing as "Sanctuary Cities"! Anyone aiding and abetting illegal felons, illegally trespassing into the US, are to be charged, tried, and if/when convicted fined and/or imprisoned. Including any and all politicians, from street LEOs to city, county/parish, state politicsians!.

I have No such qualsms with legal entry or neutralization of immigrants just the waste of taxpayer dollars used and abused by illegal immigrants. Many of which are criminals and have no regard for Americans or the American lawbiding way of life.

Am I regretful that many of the Illegals rounded up could be respectful honest citizens with clean records, other than illegally entering into the US and be "pillars of their community". So be it. No. They should have legally immigrated like so many thousands of others into the US. And that is regrettable. And these illegals should be given a priority to legally apply for US citizenship after their deportation to their country of origin.

Perhaps these latter individuals can aid in better development of their country of origin through education and using their experience by mentoring their respective youth and countrymen/women to become more productive citizens within and not to look for a foreign country, ie the US, to solve their respective country of origin economic and political problems.

If all funding was cut off to the illegals. No free rent, food, transportation, etc. I wonder how many would self deport if given a free bus/plane ticket home. Certainly not the majority but that seems to be a good first step.

Most of that are via blue state funds. Doubt states like CA would cut it. Heck, here they get free health care, housing and food stipend, free college etc. that citizens, veterans etc. do not get.

I would argue most of them are natural Republicans. The immigrants I know who came here prior to the Biden fiasco.... Are very hard working, family oriented, God fearing, conservative with their money.... Republicans!

Don’t get me started. Ted Stevens was convicted because the US attorneys hid exonerating evidence. He was cleared, posthumously, and the attorneys kept their jobs, albeit with discipline. That illegal fiasco cost us the senate.

Absolutely agree. Before Europe went collectively and insanely woke, almost all EU states had very effective and efficient guest worker programs. There are plenty of models for the US to review.

I really do not understand why this is such a hot potato for both side of the aisle. I know from the right it might be xenophobia coupled with not wanting ANY immigrants as seen by some posts here and the media. The left wants open borders, but is resistant to qualified and vetted immigrants, maybe they only want immigrants that would be dependent on government largesse and hence vote Democrat in the future once they get citizenship?

Either way, it needs to be fixed.

I don't think they'd have the 60 votes in Senate to dissolve the departments. Whether it can be part of the reconciliation remains to be seen. I wonder if they could cut the budget to the bone and have a de facto elimination of the department.
