Apart from the Biden pennant flying from his mast - I have some sympathy for this guy

I did exactly the same thing once !
About 30 years ago I was delivering a ketch from FT Lauderdale to Bermuda

I put in at Jupiter Inlet for some supplies

Long story but I managed to put the yacht into the bridge there

Not my finest hour!

A ‘jolly good read’ ?

War on the West by Douglas Murray

Other books if his include …

The Madness of Crowds

I’m in the middle of reading Kill the Boer which is also a thoughtful analysis of the consequences of racism, criminality, unemployment and land reforms on a vital, but vulnerable minority in SA

Some would say Trump's 2d amendment "confusion" continued after 2016. Interesting ad that popped following his NRA appearance.

I assume you are still not willing to entertain conversation with me on this forum..? LOL.. No worries.. I only referenced your quote for the purpose of discussion in case others are interested..

There is no denying that Trump absolutely made some troubling comments early in his term that did not please the NRA. I think that the reasoning behind this was that although I strongly believe Trump was and is committed to the ultimate defense of the 2nd Amendment, Trump is not a "gun guy" himself and he likely naively failed to grasp true agenda of the left's totalitarian gun control ideologies. I honestly believe he has since learned his lesson in dealing with the left on this issue..

The takeaway here is not to worry about what Trump said in regard to gun control, but to look his record what he actually did and most importantly did not do in regard to 2nd Amendment protections.. He threatened to veto 2 separate bills that would have had significant impacts on 2A rights in regard to universal background checks.. Trump also reversed several Obama EO's that previously impacted 2A rights.. He also appointed several Federal Judges along with his 2 SCOTUS appointments who are all solid advocates for 2A rights.. By the end of his term, the only tangible measure to come out in the way of new gun control measures was the ATF's ban on bump stocks.. I posted the link below for anyone interested in a more comprehensive review of Trump's 2A record..

Not sure there is anything to discuss. The video is of Trump speaking - not a subjective opinion. I have no doubt he will diligently pander to the NRA through November.

I wasn’t sure that the Anheuser Busch boycott was a real big thing until today. Went to a local truck centre that sells beer, bought the third last case of Coors light. The walk-in was half full of Anheuser brands with a few seltzer brands and sold out of every other brand of beer. Guess there’s not that many woke folks here in Buckeye.

I'm glad to see that you are willing to reply to me directly...;)

As far as the NRA commercial of Trump that you posted, or any discussion to be had about it, I am not disputing that the video speaks for itself.. I was merely pointing out that Trump's overall record on 2A and gun control is not fairly summarized by that video alone. His actual record reflects much more favorably..

For as much as I support the NRA's overall objectives and recognize their vital role as a Pro-2A lobby group, they have also made some poor choices in the last several years in executing their agenda. They have had a tendency to attack many would-be political allies who do not follow their agenda in lockstep. Instead of attacking, they should be educating those fellow travelers who support the concept of 2A, yet lack the nuanced information necessary for them to make common sense based., Pro-2A judgements...

Furthermore, they have done a poor job in my opinion of their overall messaging in the last several years. I believe that they have failed on a wholesale level by not leading the conversation on these mass shootings. They should be out front directing that conversation to the root causes instead of playing constant defense against the left's' talking points.. They have also failed to lead the conversation by dispelling the misinformation in regard to semi-automatic rifles. If the left has taught us anything it is that whoever controls the messaging is the one who also controls the outcomes.. The NRA's messaging has been reactive as opposed to proactive as far as I can remember..

In regard to Trump's pandering, I am fairly certain it will be much in line with the level pandering by every other republican candidate in the field..

As someone in the industry I'm not sure it's nearly as big a thing as the internet would like you to believe, but it's not trivial for sure.

I see a weekly report on volume depletions into distributors for all of our brands, including a couple that directly compete with Bud. The last couple of weeks have seen a slight but not insignificant bump of maybe 2-5% across the 'direct' bud competitors, which I can only assume is additional market share for us, all other factors being fairly equal vs preceding weeks in terms of sporting events and weather (the other stuff that usually skews things).

At a very rough guess, I expect the total hurt for Bud is maybe a couple 100,000 barrels a week at the moment, so roughly 3-8% down. Not great, but not cataclysmic. Ironically, I expect a fair proportion of that volume is going straight from Bud to one of ABI's other brands, maybe even a more premium one with better margins. Such is the state of the industry and the breadth of their portfolio.

As for if this is a 'line in the sand' for consumers long term, I very much doubt it, but hey, nice to be beating projections for the month at least.

Honestly, I have no idea what their marketing folks were thinking. Literally the worst possible brand in their entire portfolio to play this game with, but when your competitor is making a mistake and all that...:E Shrug:

A few percentage points of sales gained (or lost) can make the difference in making (or maximizing) that annual bonus. Hope you make yours, @Alistair

That's difficult to accomplish - not everything that comes from China is so marked. a lot of Made in the USA things contain parts that are sourced from China.

Yeah and here unfortunately just about everything is imported from China.....so pisses me off intensely but don't have much choice

I read labels to determine origin. I am a toolmaker and I want others to prosper also, as long as it is not a Marxist regime.
