You are correct .In NZ you don't have limits on so many species. How do you get charged for poaching?
We have no limits on wild animals in NZ .
You can shoot any sex any age anytime of the year , that goes for all wild animals .
Thar , red deer , chamois , elk, pigs , rusa , sambar , white tail deer , fellow , and sika deer are allowed to be hunted all year .
They all classed as pests here in NZ as they are all introduced here and not endemic to NZ>
BUT you still need a permit from the Department of conservation to hunt them AND only on DOC land .
Without a permit you are technically poaching .
There are a lot of game all over NZ on private land used for farming and hunting on these properties without permission is poaching .
It is becoming a problem here in NZ as some people have no respect or dont care whos land they are on .
Prosecutions for poaching are very common now and once caught you loose everything .
You loose your firearms your vehicle your firearms licence get a hefty fine and banned from hunting for an indefinate period .
i will try to upload a news article from last week about a pet stag getting shot next to smeones house .
