I signed. And got asked to donate money.

Yes they do ask about donations. I ignore it.
There have been 285 people who have viewed this thread but only 58 signed the petition so far.....hmmmm.....
I also approached several large hunting groups and organizations in the US (including SCI) about helping this petition out.....still at 58......

Yay! Can you add the petition to any South African hunting groups, organizations?

Not sure what you are requesting?

Just saw this....signed. By the way, don't bash the group to bad. This post came out during the beginning of the convention season. An awful lot of members probably haven't seen it, just like me.

Honestly a very good point! The problem with this whole debate is we have North American groups fighting with North American groups over what is good for Africa. The anti's get press but the governments/organization of the affected countries remain moot. 8x68 is doing a wonderful thing here but think about it - why no official complaint about the mob mentality that has negatively affected tourism to Africa by blacklisting these businesses from major North America hotel chains? If not the governments then what about industry organizations?

Rant, rant , rant, rant.....

The numbers are kind of disappointing. Hunting is an individual or small group activity and we probably are inward looking. "If it doesn't affect me and the way I hunt at home, I can't be bothered." Apparently, anti-hunters are more activist and travel in packs with their keyboards.

It is becoming very clear that the whole hunting community had better reform, come together and work together, or we are doomed to fail. We will not prevail with the attitude that "if I can slay a deer on the back 40, I'm happy. I don't care about Africa (or Europe, or Asia, or Australia etc) . I don't care about ______ (insert) bowhunting, muzzleloading hunting, crossbow hunting, hound hounding, bait hunting, rifle hunting, doe/cow hunting, meat hunting, trophy hunting, predator hunting, upland bird hunting, migratory bird hunting, etc etc.

Band together everyone, or we will fall one by one, and much faster than you think.

Join the fight today by joining your local state/provincial fish and game club. Join SCI. For hunting it is very much true, "united we stand, divided we fall".

I may be confuddled as to your location. I was under the impression you were in Africa somewhere. My thought process was to put the petition on those groups Facebook pages, or other forums that operate out of South Africa. I don't want to list them and incur the wrath of Jerome.

True but I also posted the petition on multiple large organization hunting websites that operate out of the US. I'm sure not all members are at conventions. No response from anyone because I would see it on my Facebook page. I'm not trying to come across as being a "basher" but it's more about being frustrated that people only care about what matters to self and not what's good for the community. Unfortunately selfish ambitions only lead to self ruin for everyone. The antis must be looking at this and killing themselves laughing. It's sad to say but you've got to give them credit. When they need to mobilize they do in numbers. We just hiss in a pit!

I'm looking at the numbers on the membership list....3648 (granted some are trolls)....we have 57 signatures. I had hoped to present this petition to the new venue hosts to show our support but I'd be embarressed to even mention anything to them.

I am in Africa as often as I can, but I am further west than you are actually.

I'd put the link to the petition anywhere you can.
This time of year is summer holidays in Africa and also show season. I expect people to be slow in replying.

Signed.

In the low 60's now.

Tim

Unfortunately there are just very few passionate people who love and support Africa hunting. Most people sit on the sideline, that's why the antis get away with a lot of antics.

Signed today.

Thanks to all for kind words, and also to those that have taken the time to sign.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
